My husqvarna sm125 s over revved and now it will not turn over

My bike ran out of fuel. After putting some in I was riding home when it dropped down 2 gears instead of 1, over revved and stopped. Since then it will not kick start. Jon.

SOURCE: bike shut off when riding.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your description indicates an electrical malfunction. Offhand, the jump start and charging is significant. This points to the bike's battery not charging. Suspects would be:

  • voltage regulator (most likely);
  • connectors to voltage regulator (likely). Check/clean corrosion/burnt marks;
  • stator and/or the 3 wires coming from it (least likely).
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: hard to start yz250 dirt bike 2001 4stroke

i used to own a yz426f and it had the exact problem... a fresh plug will fix your problem. change the plug and the bike will run great. also don't start the bike and shut it off , my bike would be fine if i started it and rode for a while getting to the proper heat range help save the plug. if my bike didn't start in one or two kicks it was usually the plug.

hope this helps

The fuel tanks are common to rust through, maybe that is where the dirt is from.

SOURCE: My 1984 xr250r needs help!

well you can do the idle and maybe fiddle with the mixture screw right on the carb will be a screw and idle screw you need to turn this in 1/4 of a turn at a time with the bike running until it idle ok and the mixture screw you simply just fiddle with this turn it all the way in and unscrew it 2 turn and try this get back to me if not ok 91c5a07.jpg

89 Yamaha virago 750 while riding lights go dim and engine cuts out unless bike is revved up then engine runs and light come back (sometimes) what's the problem?

You have a charging fault, it sounds like 1 phase of your alternator is down , so giving a low charge rate check in this order.
alternator winding resistance at the plug/ skt into the regulator and,or reg/ rectifier unit
the plugs clean and connections good.
next the out put voltage which should be about 13-14 volts just above idle, lights off, rev engine up to 2-3 thousand revs voltage should be 14.5volts,turn on the lights voltage should not drop to under 13 volts with the engine above 2k rpm.
low charging rates are normally down to alternator and wiring issues not the regulator which if faulty wil give no out put , so no chage at all

I have a 2004 husqvarna sm125 which when I put in gear engine just cuts out straight away!?

Sounds like the clutch cable is too tight, try adjusting it to give 2-3mm free play at the hand lever.

After reading your question it sounded like the smoke was due to fuel leaking on the muffler and or excess fuel entering the combustion chamber. I would due the following diagnostic. In a quite area turn on the ignition switch. You should hear the metallic click of the fuel cutoff solinoid on the carburetor.

Need to know best jeting in cool season for this bike husqvarna tc 510 2008

If the bike ran good this summer then a simple main jet needle adjustment should work good in the cooler weather.
Remove the top of the carb. remove the needle from the slide and drop the clip down one notch on the needle and reinstall. This will richen it up a bit. run and test. You may want to drop an additional notch depending on your condition.
Move the clip down on the needle and it will make a richer condition. Move the clip up on the needle and will make a leaner running condition.
Dont forget to put it back in the summer.

DRAIN CARBS FROM PETCOCK AT BOTTOM OF EACH CARB MAKE SURE FUEL DRAINS COMPLETELY THEN TURN FUEL BACK ON, IF THIS IS AN INJECTED MODEL DRAIN TANK AND FLUSH THEN RUN IT HARD FOR 20 MILES OR SO, MAKE SURE YOUR OIL LEVEL IS OK
