Car not idling adn stalling when it is cold

On real cold days the car does not like to idle and keeps stalling. Have to use both feet to keep it running so, when I get to stop lights it doesn 't stall. Once the car is warmed up it runs good but, have to let it idle at least at good 20 to 25 minutes then car runs good. It stalls alot and have to keep starting it. My check engine light is on and sometimes it blinks so, have to shut car off and start it again. On warm days it runs good and no problem's.

blinking ses light indicates misfire in one or even all cylinders , and how cold ? water will freeze inside water choke and cause no idle condition til warm , almost sounds like intake manifold leak

Sounds like the idle control vale is sticking when it is cold. It is located on the throttlebody right at the air inlet

I have just recently purchased a 2012 mitsubishi colt clear tech , and the slow idle speed sits at a shade under 1000rpm , is this too high and if so is it adjustable ?

Normal idle speeds on modern cars are usually between 600 and 1000 rpm so the idle does not seem too fast. Most modern cars now use electronically controlled throttle bodies instead of carburettors and most throttle bodies are not adjustable.
The idle speed can run higher when the engine is cold as more fuel is added until it reaches working temperature. Let the car warm up to it's working temperature, usually about 10 minutes at idle.
Keep your feet off the pedals and check the idle speed. Listen to the engine. Does it sound like it is 'racing' like your using the accelerator pedal or is it struggling and almost stalling? If it is an even steady idle it is probably set correctly. Get a good mechanic to look at it if your worried.

Car and Light Truck Engine Stalls-all fuel injected gas engines

Here are the common cause of surges, cold stalls, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Car runs good cold but once it warms up when i stop it dies

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Jeep will start but not idle when it's cold out

You have a cold start injector. It basically primes the fuel into the engine.
It`s like the old type `choke` systems.
Get it checked at an auto electricians.
