Question about 2003 Yamaha DT 125 R

Hi i have h plate dtr 125,engine oil is gray cld any1 help and tell me what it could b and is overheating,thx tommy

The problem arises in this situation because the water system is mixing with the oil system? if i am right in thinking that this is an liquid cooled version with the infamous powervalve system then you might find it usuially has something to do with that. if you keep running th engine then you will find out that it will do lots of damage to your piston which relies on oil to move and cool.

    firstly you will have to split the engine which is quitee difficult if you dont have the correct tools.

    step 1: drop engine at the front taking exhaust off and carburator off, and any power valve wires(little bumpy thing on top of the engine).

    step 2: then undo the screws holding powervalve casing on engine, disconnect linkage taking special care not to drop this into engine as it will be specially harrd to return. if you tie a piece of string onto it and leave hanging out would be better. the undo 5 nuts holding top of piston down and slide bolts out. the motor unwritten law states that you should replace these bolts known as stretch bolts, but as a former owner find this not to be the case. you should find the top of engine should now be free. next you want to be lifting up second section of engine which should be a lot harder to do as this houses the piston which will need spring compressors to put back on. dont take all way off till you have disconnected the bottom of your powervalve linkage. then you should be able to just lift off notice way barrel lines up with sump(bottom of engoine) for easy assembley.

    step 3: if you notice the gaskets which are on both sides of second section(barrel) you should notice that one of the gaskets has moisture across smooth surface and this you should find is the offending gasket. if money no option then order a complete gasket set from dealer but if not then use old gasket and piece of gasket paper to make new one. this should be perfectly matched as it will have to withstand very high temps. once all has been done then you can proceed with the reversal of the above taking special care not to damage any of the powervalve as this is a costly error which i myself leanred the hard way.

2. Restricted radiator air flow.
3. Faulty thermostat.

Hi there i have a yamaha dtr 125 thats smokes


Assuming you are using two stroke engine oil, the pump is pumping too much into the gas. DO NOT use motor oil in the gas. If 2 stroke oil is being used, then get a new pump, fix the one you have or disconnect the pump and mix the oil with gas when you fill up. Four ounces of 2 stroke oil per gallon of gas equals the standard 32/1 fuel mix.

hi mate you dont need to change anything as im sure the carbs are all the same through the years also the only thing you need is a start switch

The bike is 19 years old. Caseings will be VERY hard to find. Suggestion; take the case to a welding shop and ask them to weld the crack. Teey will have a MIG or TIG welder which will do the job and the cost should only be about 20 bucks.
