If you haven't already check fuses. If fuses are good. My guess would be brake light switch. IT'S a little box at the top of the brake pedal behind the dash. Try replacing it.

Well, yes the solenoids would cause the transaxle to not function right. Are you sure the trans is not engaging, or are the brakes locked on ? You say it shifts fine, you mean you can move the shift lever ?
check to see if the brake lights work,if not you can turn the key on but not to the point where the dash lights come on,shift it to neutral, then crank the car,its will start and you can at least shift it to forward and reverse...it may have a blown fuse,or a bad brake light switch at the pedal
your abs system runs off the speed sensors. but if you have a bad one your abs light should have come on. you may have to have your abs system bled. this is best done with a computer
check and make sure your brake light s work, if they don't the shifter is locked out, it is a safety feature to make sure your foot is on the brake when u shift into drive or reverse.
leaking fluid will not cause a brake to lock up unless the wheel cylinder is leaking and caused the brake shoe to swell. If so, you need a new wheel cylinder.
The gear selector is locked until the system detects the brake pedal is being pressed, the brake circuit then sends a signal to the shifter release solenoid to pull a pin back and let you shift out of park, this is a safety feature required by federal law, U need to have someone see if the brake lights go on when you press the pedal, if they don't check the switch at the top of the brake pedal, if the brake lights work then the little solenoid is defective.
