John sorry nobody has helped you yet.

I am not familiar with your bike, but maybe some clarification will help others.

    1. 2 or 4 stroke?

    2. Reason I ask is,, oil tank sounds like maybe 2 stroke

    3. if 2 stroke, you should only put 2 stoke mix oil in the oil injection tank that will later mix with the gas to provide mixed gas. and it will not EVER return to the tank,

    4. Are you saying the MOTOR Oil in the motor is overFull,

OR are you saying that the actual Crankcase area (which on a 2 stroke should not have anything in it except for a trace of mixed gas) Is full of 2 stroke oil, or gas.

Sorry to be so basic. but gotta start somewhere.

Were is the oil drain plug on a 2008 bigdog mutt 117C.U.

warm the oil up.....take a little ride.
find the oil drain at the bottom rear of the oil tank. drain oil. replace filter.
the HD style V-twin is a dry sump engine. there shouldn't be much oil in the crankcase. DO NOT remove the plug in the bottom of the crankcase!!!!! if you strip it, you will have to replace the crankcases......if it falls out, you will loose all your oil while riding.
fill the oil tank with the oil of your choice. any 20w-50 if acceptable. do not top it off! the oiling system requires an air gap at the top of the oil tank. typically 3 quarts of oil.

I would like to know how to fill up the oil tank in Honda Active. Do I have to use a funnel to fill it, if yes how much

You need a funnel.
Go ahead and fill it all the way up,it has an oil pump that automaticaly mixes the proper amount of oil with the gas.
If were talking about the crankcase oil level add enough just to yhe point of the little fill level line etched into the side of the crankcase cover.
Good luck,Gary

Change oil, filter howlong should it take for oil to get back in crankcase

The oil in a H-D engine does not reside in the crankcase. A Harley engine is a design known as a "dry sump" engine. The oil is stored in an oil tank. From there it is pumped into the engine to lubricate the parts. Once it has done that, it is pumped out of the engine, through the oil filter, and back to the tank.

When you the oil and the filter, it should not take but a minute or two to see the oil return to the oil tank. It must fill the filter first. Now, if the oil light will not go out, you may have an air lock in your oil feed line. If you feel this is the problem, remove the oil pressure switch, and the spin the engine with the starter and pump a few ounces of oil out to remove the air. Replace the switch and everything should be fine.

If you do not have oil pressure on your engine, it will be very evident. Your engine is equipped with hydraulic tappets. If you do not have oil pressure, these units will collapse and rattle loudly. There will be no doubt in your mind. Just start the engine and watch for the oil to start squirting back into the oil tank. You'll probably need a flashlight to see into the tank.

I am looking for an oil passage diagram for a 01 fltr with the A motor. Trying to figure out a easy way to drain ALL of the oil out of the crankcase. I figure if the oil filter is blocked off and the tank...

Try this instead. Visit this site and look for "The Scavenger" system.

You can modify the system and use diesel fuel and cheap 10W30 Wt oil to flush the engine and then add the "good" oil and a new filter. I have the procedure in .pdf format if you'll contact me directly at

What does plug in sump below cams drain?

This plug should not be removes for anything during regular service of the bike. Mechanics will pull this plug to determine how much oil the engine is running in the crankcase. Too much oil in the crankcase is an indication of oil not being returned to the oil tank properly and could be a sign of a faulty oil pump
