1 Answer

I have a 1995 kawa. ninja zx-6, i bought a new battery and junction box for it. i took the new junction box off because the head light would not turn off, so it is running w the old box and the new battery. After cruising for about an hour or so i turn my bike off and try to restart it and it wont start. i have to charge the battery for a couple of hours before it will kick over. Why is it running the juice out of my battery

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your description indicates that the battery is not charging when the engine is running. This could be:

  • faulty regulator;
  • loose/corroded connector/terminals at the regulator;
  • loose wire/terminal from the regulator to the battery + terminal;
  • loose battery ground to chassis/harness;
  • loose ground from regulator.
Check and correct based on the above.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Figure it's either the bulb, a fuse, wiring (broken or disconnected wire), or the sending unit (on transmission).

My zx7r, ive got no Ignition or Neutral light, I have replaced the ignitor unit,the clutch switch, the battery,the side stand switch,the junction box, the fuel pump and still no ignition? I took off my...

Hi, Anonymous the ignition circuit cut-off system comprising of the side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch has the following functions:
a. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled.
b. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the side stand is still down.
c. It cuts the running engine when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is moved down.
Periodically check the operation of the ignition circuit cut-off system according to the following tests.
With the engine turned off:
1. Move the side stand down.
2. Make sure that the engine stop switch is set to "RUN"
3. Turn the key to "ON".
4. Shift the transmission into the neutral position.
5. Push the start switch if the engine does not start the neutral switch may be faulty.
With the engine still running:
6. Move the side stand up.
7. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
8. Shift the transmission into gear.
9. Move the side stand down if the engine does not stall you may have a faulty side stand switch.
After the engine has stalled:
10. Move the side stand up.
11. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
12. Push the start switch if the engine does not start you may have a faulty clutch switch.
This check is most reliable if performed with a warmed-up engine.

Hi im having problems with my 1995 kawasaki ninja zx-6r,my battery is brand new and after riding for a while my bike just dies out and when i try to start it back up the battery is drained

hello carl...sounds like you might have a charging system problem. If you have a volt meter you can check it out. You can test at the battery. With the meter leads, red on positive, black on negative, you should have 13.5-14.5 volts direct current with engine at 3500 RPM. I hope this helps.

When i turn my key on nothing happens on the dash no neutral light, bought brand new battery and checked all the fuses in the junction box and the main fuse still nothing working when turn key on

Both cables firmly connected? Good ground? Cables connected properly (+ to start solenoid, - to the frame?) Is there power at the battery? You measured the battery with a Volt/Ohm meter? What about the solenoid? Have power on the battery side?

Couple things for you to check. Currently, the website is not notifying we volunteer question catchers of comments posted to questions ... so, if none of this works, please reformulate your quesiton with the latest information and repost.
