If you crank or start he engine and the antifreeze blows out for the radiator it is due to blown head gasket pushing cyl. compression into the cooling system. The head will have to come off.

You have combustion gases getting into the cooling system, that much is sure, if u didn't have the headed for poss warp-age then a new head gasket will leak, these heads warp really bad, we always have them trued up or we won't guarantee the job.

1999 jeep grand cherokee overheating...

You need to fill your antifreeze with the truck running and your heat on. You leave off the radiator cap and let the truck warm up. The cap is left off to bleed air out of the system. Once the truck reaches temp for the thermostat to open, your fluid level should drop about 3/4 gallon. Give that a try and see what happens.

How to change my engine coolant in a 1992 ford ranger-v6 3.0 engine, with what kind of coolant and how much of it

Hello again Vicki, you can read my first post to you on type. Now for where and how. Put suitable container under radiator drain valve. Start to drain old antifreeze, you can also loosen radiator cap for faster drain, but make sure antifreeze doesn't start to spill all over your driveway or garage floor. When radiator and engine are mostly drained, I would recommend to change the thermostat. Follow the top radiator hose down to the engine. This is where you'll find the thermostat. Remove the attaching bolts and remove thermostat. If you wish to flush your engine, you can put water down the thermostat hole as well as the radiator cap hole, or you can do a fancy flush. Shut drain below, reinstall thermostat housing without thermostat, fill radiator with fancy flush cleaning solution and water replace radiator cap ,run for time stated on can of flush. Now you go back to where I began and start the draining again. Dispose off antifreeze correctly it is dangerous to animals if they ingest. Close drain, and fill engine with antifreeze thru thermostat housing, when almost to top install new thermostat and gasket. fill radiator almost to top, start engine, open inside heater and let engine warm to operating temperature. At this time the antifreeze level will drop, because thermostat will open, and you can fill some more .This should eliminate any possible air bubbles. Fill your coolant tank. I would like to know how you make out. GOOD LUCK.

HAve a 1996 Ford explorer v-8 that is overheating,

With cool engine... open radiator cap and look inside radiator. Do you see lots of sediment and calcium growth on radiater tubes? If yes, a coring may be needed. If only slightly bad, a radiator flush may be needed... then refill with 50 percent antifreeze.

Good thermostat, cleaned cooling system, non-leaking water pump, good water flow via water pump... nothing else left (unless you put the thermostate in backwards)..

Water overheating on a year 2000 seat toledo 1.9tdi se, is the water pump easy to replace??

Water pumps are not normally what causes overheating, in fact that would be my last item to change. The only way that a water pump fill cause overheating is if the impeller has come off the shaft or completely worn down. I would first start with the thermostat. If this dosn't fix it, then I would be looking at the condition of the radiator I.E. is it plugged, are the fins up front full of bugs and debris ect. Then I would also check the cooling fan operation, does it come on when engine is hot? also does it come on with the A.C. operation-it should. Then last of all the water pump- and no its not easy on this one, due to lack of clearance.

I have a 1999 ford taurus with the 3.0 sohc we have replaced the thermostat and the pressure cap and it still keeps blowing out coolant what else could be wrong?

I assume its overheating.
Ensure motor doesn't have tuning or mechanical problems (such as blown head gasket).
Check radiator core is not blocked,
Check operation of cooling fans.
Check the coolant system is correctly filled - any airlocks cleared (by bleeding as may be required).
Check radiator hose on suction side of waterpump not (soft) collapsing when engine speed above idle,

Dodge 318 overheating.

HI. It could possibly be the the thermostat is stuck shut. If thats the case when the vehicle warms up it will probably overheat all the time. The best way to tell is buy a new one and change it. They are usualy around $10.00 at any autoparts store. If you change it and it still overheats, it could be the waterpump.

1995 legacy 250t wagon - overheating

Two possiblities; a blown head gasket, or a freeze plug leaking. If possible take it to a trusted shop and have the pressure checked on the radiator, they can tell you if your radiator is stopped up, or the freeze plug is leaking, and if it's blowing back in the radiator when you remove the cap then it's a blown head gasket.
