1986 Goldwing 1200 carburtor model,fuel pump power

Apply 12 volts direct to pump with a ground..doesn't make a peep..dead...BUT..no 12 volts to harness either..bad relay and pump?

2003 jeep grand cherokee will not turn over


Constant 12-volt power is applied through 40 A FUSE 8 in the power distribution center (PDC) to the engine starter motor relay and through 40A fuse 14 to the ignition switch. If the park/neutral position switch is connected to ground, turning the ignition switch to START causes 12 volts to pass through 10A fuse 31 in the junction block and the engine starter motor relay coil to close the relay and apply 12 volts to the starter. Any of the parts mentioned could be open or defective.

1986 hilux fuel pump not working


First, I'm guessing your truck is fuel injected right? If so, the first thing to do would be to check the power going to the pump. The pump is in the tank (if fuel injected) if carb engine then you have a manual pump on the engine head. Some Toyota's came both ways all the way up to '89-90 models. But, locate the wires going to the pump near the tank, the 2 biggest wires will be the power wire and ground wire to pump, with volt meter have someone spin engine over while you check both wires to see if you are getting 12 volts to 1 of them.
If you are, then you have a bad pump, if you don't have 12 volts to either wire, then you will need to identify the fuel pump relay. The relay is located in a few different locations on the older model Toyota's, I'm sorry but without seeing it myself I can't pinpoint exactly where the relay is. Have you checked the relay center under the hood? Hope this helps.

Not sure what you are using as a ground when checking voltage. If you check at the connector you should have 12 volts at the blue wire with the red stripe (red prong on volt meter) and you can check putting the ground/black prong on your volt meter on either one of the black wires on the connector. When turning the key just to the on position you\'re only going to get full power for about 2 seconds unless you\'re turning the engine over. If you\'re not getting full voltage try putting the black prong (leaving the red one from meter on the terminal that has the blue wire with the red stripe) using a good ground on the body of the vehicle (the black prong from meter). Now if you\'re getting the voltage you need then you need to trace the black wire(s) to where they are grounded out on the vehicle and clean/tighten and repair the ground as well as making sure you are getting zero continuity from where the ground is on the body to the connector at the fuel pump. A bad ground will cause weak power. These are also the 2 wires you need to apply direct power (on the pump side of the connector) in order to check the pump as you asked. Since there are 2 black wires at the connector, if you have direct power to the blue and red wire and put your ground on one of the black wires and it doesn\'t run, than try using the other black wire (or where it would be on the terminal of the connector...pump side) at the connector because that would mean you are testing the wrong ground wire for the pump itself. If your ground is good down there and it turns on when applying direct power than it could be a number of things but the 2 most common would be the fuel pump relay or the air flow meter/sensor. Start with check power and ground and direct powerfirst. If the pump is working when putting direct power and your grounds are good then further testing needs to be done of course. I\'ll be happy to help you with further testing if needed like checking the relay and/or air flow meter. You will need an ohm meter for further testing. I hope I was detailed enough for you to understand the testing needed at this point and I hope I was able to help

My 1986 honda goldwing gl1200 only idles with the choke on. why? and what do i look for to narrow down the problem?

1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Vacuum line from the petcock to intake manifold cracked.
5. Float needle and seat sticking.
6. Float level too low.
7. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
8. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
9. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
10. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
11. Slow fuel jet clogged.
12. Faulty fuel pump.

We replaced the fuel pump on our 2001 chey 1500 4.8 and the fuel pump still will not come on and there is power getting to the fuel pump but the fuel pump wont come on


POWER GOING TO FUEL PUMP NOT TO FUEL PUMP.YOU CAN BUY AND REPLACE FUEL PUMP WIRES SEPERATELY.SOUND LIKE OLD WIRES HAS A OPEN CIRCUIT OR POOR GROUND.

I have a 1986 Aspencade Goldwing GL1200A, The bike got blown over do to strong winds. I can get the engine started but it will shut down a few minutes later or driving it about 2 to 3 block.


The fuel doesn't reaches the carburetors fast enough and they run dry - there's something wrong with the fuel line, it's choked somehow. Or the fuel pump was damaged by the fall. You should also check the tank and its tap.

check the fuel filter it sounds like it's pluged and causing too much back presure this is causing an over load in the fuel pump causing it to stop working or to presure lock
