C42 is the ignition switch signal, check the ignition switch. c41 is the fuel pump control.

is it fuel or spark thats what you need to check the older models have problems with relays overheating it is possible you can check the codes with the key on i think its 3 times the ignition on and keep it on the third time without starting and count the times the check engine light flashes it should start 1 long 2 short and if no codes 3 short and 3 short or 1 long 2 short so try it and check all first fuel spark whick one cuts off when wont start

Relays only allow power to the pump . If the fuel pump keeps failing I suggest you check some where else. It is vital that you do not run the fuel level too low as that destroys fuel pumps. You should keep at least 1/4 tank of fuel. when you get it going have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold. Run the fault codes

I have a 2004 gxsr 1000 with fault code c42. It wont start. oil light is flashing and displays FI on the temp. Bike just crank but will not fire it up. Help?

Grab a paperclip.

Place the bike in Neutral, and take the rear seat cowling off. On the side of the bike between the tail section and the trunk you will find a connector that is covered by a rubber cap, and has two wires running into it. Remove the cap and take note of which one of the 4 sockets the two wires go to. Turn the bike ON and start it up, short the wires out with the paperclip. Where your speedo was flashing a -CHEC- with the temp should now be a CXX error code. Write this code down. Then shut the bike off. Match the code up with the list below. Grab a Manual and get to work!

(What you have just done is put the bike into "Dealer Mode".

Odds are its your SET valve needing adjustment, have the codes pull on the bike. If it is the SET, you can remove the SET system easily or you can have it adjusted.

C15 - ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
C21 - INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
C22 - ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE SENSOR

I have a ford capri 2.8i 1984 and it keeps cutting out as i slow down it happens and cuts out sometimes if i press back on accelorator it keeps goin but other times cuts completely i just need help is it...

Hi, I am an auto electrician and have been the owner of a 2.8Inj for the past 13 years.
I had a similar fault years ago and traced it to the fuel pump relay faulting intermittently.......the relay is found directly above the accel pedal and is purple in colour. The fuel pump in these systems draws 9-10 amps so the relay gets fairly warm and can eventually fail. Get an auto sparky to locate, check or link out relay to eliminate it.
The relay WAS available new from FORD.
I have found some cars to have this already linked out and supplied by alternative power supply,in one case the ign side of stop lamp switch....not good.....not safe.
The relay is designed to feed the fuel pump ONLY when engine is running...ign signalled.
A quick diagnosis is to run a temp power supply from tail/plate lamp in rear, splice into fuel pump supply wire[accessable by spare wheel], drive and when car cuts out, turn on tail lamps.
Thats how I located my problem.
Hope all this helps.......it is a process of elimination.
Cheers........TJ

Can any one help I have a 2005 1.9 tid With fault code p0090 and car will not start. Thanks kev

Hi, that code is relating to a problem with one of the selenoids attatched to the common rail fuel pump in the engine bay, this is located on the fuel rail at the top of the engine try unplugging the wires and connecting them again to rule out bad connection being the fault, also check for anywhere the wires could have been rubbing and a possible area where it could short out.

how ever as your has cut out then it points to the selenoid failing completely and this has stopped fuel getting to the injectors so have a good look for a short along the wires and unplug and refit the connectors failing that you will have to replace the selenoid, these are not cheap to buy and you would be better of getting a genuine part as the cheaper ones tend to fail alot sooner and in the end costing more money in parts.

if your unsure of the part your looking for all you need to do is call your nearest main dealers tell them the error code you have got then they can sell you the exact part you need then once this is replaced your problem will be solved.

before buying the part make sure you have checked all the connections and wires for damage as buying a new part and having damaged wires wont solve your problem so have good look first

here is a quick way of testing what parts are working and not on the fuel rail.

Fuel Injection Relay Test. There are 2 relays inside the fuel injection/pump relay. One of them should turn ON when the ignition is turned on (without turning over the engine), and the other relay (which actually turns the fuel pumps) should come ON when the engine turns over/runs. You can check the 1st relay by putting your fingers on the relay module and turning the ignition on and off repeatedly. You should feel the relay click on every time. If it doesn't, that relay isn't working. And you'll find the car doesn't start if the relay did not come on.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

My 2005 dodge magnum sxt AWD is having starting problems. It has happened twice so far. I start the car and then it dies. start again and it dies again. try again and it won't even start. I've checked...

I'll be honest, it sounds like the transmitter in the key isnt reading. A key remake without the factory transmitter will start the car, but only keep it running for a few seconds before cutting power to the motor. your electronics will still run....This may be too obvious, but honestly, thats what it sounds like.
