Are you sure it is bent, they are bent normally, and the bike does lean over a bit further than usual.

SOURCE: 1998 honda vtr firestorm starting problem

Biggest problem with Firestorms is the voltage regulator overheats and burns out, remove the seat cowling and check the wiring and unit. Newer ones have a heatsink built into them if you need to replace, checking the pulse generator is easy, measure the resistance between the 3 yellow wires that plug into the reg, they should all be between 0.2 and 0.5 Ohm

SOURCE: fuel system diagram for a vtr firestorm

do you have a charol system in the bike because when you take off the tank the little pressure line on the bottom of the tank is suppose to drain into that ,...now if its gone that would possibly explain the leak. but one day i had it pissing out like a race horse and thought it was going to explode..i took the seat off and looked around and found that i had bad o-rings on the main t-fitting going to all the carbs. i just went and bought a salvaged one at a junk dealer popped it in an viola! the bike worked better than it ever did.

1998 Honda VTR 1000 F Firestorm engine oil capacity

The engine oil capacity for the 1998 Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm depends on the specific situation:

After draining: If you're changing the oil and filter, it requires approximately 3.9 liters (4.1 US quarts or 3.4 Imperial quarts) of oil.

After disassembly: If you're performing a more extensive service, the capacity increases to approximately 4.5 liters (4.8 US quarts or 4.0 Imperial quarts).

Make sure to use SAE 10W-30 motorcycle oil that meets the JASO MA or API SG standards. The Pro Honda GN4 10W-30 is a suitable choice for engine oil. Additionally, replace the oil filter with a HifloFiltro HF204RC filter and use an NGK DPR9EVX-9 spark plug.

Hi i have a 2003 honda vtr firestorm just wondering when cam chain and tensioner should be changed .Also at what intervals should bike be serviced.

Manufacturer recomeds tensioner @ 40k but please change them at 35k. My rear tensioner failed @ 40150 ks and two bent valves, valve stem seals, head gasket + the two 50$ tensioners + labour, i was back on the road.
as for the servicing i personally have been doing 5k oil and 10k oil and filter change. As long as the service intervals are with in six months apart i dont think you wil have a problem. If you dont do many k's change your oil at least once every six months-oil is cheap.

Vtr 1000cc 1997

Hi,

Initially, a couple of possibilities that you can check/explore:
  • starting relay (most likely);
  • start switch;
  • starter motor;
  • loose wiring, connector, terminal; and others that could not be discounted
  • insufficiently charged or weak battery;
  • neutral sensor/switch/light;
  • sidestand switch/sensor;
  • alarm/security system.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
