Check the feed pipe for gas from the tank to the petcock and thn frm petcock to the carburators, probabely it may have clogged with rust having stayed tht long .
You can also by pass it and fill the carburtors with gas and thn try to start it .
After trying to by pass the petcock and still you dont get gas into the float chamber thn you will have to clean the carburator there may be obstruction (dirt ) around the float pin.

Hope this helps!.

If you did not put in a new battery, try that. Your old battery probably doesn't charge up enough.

Bike bein sitting for a year and half and wont start now

Well if it has been sitting, check your main things ie: you have a good or new battery, all your fuses are intact, make sure you drain all the old gas out of the bike and try to clean the carbs with some carb cleaner. It sounds like if it is not a bad battery then your gas has turned bad on you in which case it wont start until you clean it all out and put fresh gas in it.Also make sure you clean the spark plugs and check for spark.Good luck.

My bike has sat for one year. I bought a new battery one year ago and drove it from my old apartment to my current one. The bike has not been started for one year. I got a used gas tank on ebay and...

Ok mate few things to consider here, if the bike has been non started and stationary for a year there is a very good chance that one of the following or all of the following has occurred.
Your battery is dead (they don't like just sitting - doesn't matter new or old, if left for extensive time they will die) Your gear / motor oil would be useless - oil can not just sit in bottom of bike for a year it would be glue
Your carbi would be blocked or partially blocked from fuel gum or varnish in jets
If you like this bike I highly recommend oil and filter change, New spark plug (put about 10 drops of oil down the spark plug hole before you put new spark plug back in to lube the piston) clean air filter (or fit new one) Remove carbi and compressed air clean all jets especially the pilot jet and circuit and stick in a new battery
Once all done for the fist start I would find a nice safe hill and push start it. in my experience under this circumstances if you rely on the electric starter you may find you burn it out trying to start so give at least few minutes running motor to flush everything through before trying to electric start would be your best bet
When you get it going I would dump the oil and oil filter again after 2 hours ride time to confirm all the old expired oil is flushed out - just to be safe
good luck regards Jamie

Drain any old fuel as it will be no good, take a spark plug out connect plug lead lay the plug on the side of the engine to earth it then push the starter button check to see if there is a spark at the electrode should be a bluey colour, make sure the engine has some compression with both plugs in put the bike in 3rd gear and push slowly should feel compression on both cylinders. hope this helps Pete.

Hows the oil in it? also i would suggest spark plug sitting that long with gas inside the tank isnt good for any bike but it was good to drain. If its not spark plug check all basic engine problems than maby bring to mechanic it may need rebuilt.

drain out all of the old gas first, put in fresh fule fully charge battery and retry starting her up, if no luck starting unclip fule pipe from injector rain and cranck motor over if fule spills the fule pump is working ok, pull off ecu plug and spray with wd40 all plugs and refit check spark do not let spark plug hand loos this must stay earthed or it can wreck the ecu if motor starts up, when it starts up some injuctor cleaner in fule tank and run engine up

It has not been run for about a year the battery was flat so i charged it but all it does is turn over, it has not started

hello. Put new gas in the tank, a new spark plug, and a new air filter. Then use some starter fluid and put a couple of squirts in the hole before you install the spark plug. It will start, and if it doesn't repeat.

it sits for 2 years so you have to general check and clean everything, first replace the battery, spark plugs oil filter(if any) have your oil change, clean and balance your carburator and air cleaner, remove your gas tank empty it and clean use new gas, if you can spray an WD40 on all wiring socket then start the bike

1996 zx11 getting sprk to one bank only

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The voltage on the green wire must be pulsating when cranking/starting the bike, not steady. Confirm by similarly testing the voltage on the black wire on the left ignition coil. If the green still reads a constant voltage, then the CDI is faulty; to be more specific, most likely that the switching tansistor inside the CDI that drives the right ignition coil has shorted.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
