You need to get a book that tells you how to adjust clutch linkage or try putting it in 3 or 4 th gear first if it goes in it may need syncrnicers

SOURCE: neutral safety switch....I think

The switch is located at the top of the clutch pedal assembly, above your feet. Its a little cramped, but its a simple dc two wire switch, you should be able to check it with a meter for power and to see if the switch does indeed need replacement. If thats the problem, when you see the new switch, you'll know it goes in, very easy. good luck

Car is making loud noise when changing gear.also dies on pressing clutch

Sounds like you need a new clutch ,the fingers on the pressure plate have worn away ,remember when stopped at lights to select neutral handbrake on and foot off the clutch .Not sitting their holding clutch down waiting for a racing start when lights change ,now i know this is the spanish way but its mine .

06 kia spectra how do your adjust the shift cables on a manual trans all forward gears are fine problem is with reverse no problem untie we changed the clutch

The clutch is not clearing properly ,so wait a while for it to level itself off ,to get reverse in the meantime you stop engine ,put in reverse then start engine ,if after a while it still doesnt work and tries to jump out of gear you will have to strip the gearbox and change the dog gear

Humming noise coming from transmission when its in neutral. push the clutch in and it stops. suppose to be a new clutch also it runs great but if you lift the rear end off the ground the wheels will s

A noise in neutral that goes when the clutch is disengaged indicates a front input shaft bearing in the gear box . When the clutch is out that shaft is spinning along with the cluster shaft in the gear box. When the clutch is in that shaft stops (to engage first gear) and the bearing is no longer working.. It normally means a box out job.

I have problems when I shift from 2 to 3. It make a metal sound just when I shall put it in the 3 gear. The rest of the gears are ok. The Volvo is a 850 GLE 2.5 l 288 000 km.

It sounds like you have a worn syncroniser gear.
You may be able to double clutch between 2 and 3 to get a gring free gear change.
A reoair would require a tranmission d removal and repair.

How to double clutch
push clutch to remove from 2 and stop in neutral-let the clutch out while in neutral.
Wait a second, then push in the clutch and put in 3 and let the clutch out.

This is how transmissions in old trucks without syncronisers are shifted.

Hope this helps

1999 f150 4.2 5 speed won't shift. have to start

Have you checked the clutch master cylinder? If it is low on fluid it means you may have a leak possibly at the slave cylinder. Add fluid if needed and see if it improves.

Could be clutch is worn. Check shift fork. Also the throw out bearing should be replaced.

2001 ford f150 supercrew 4x4......4 wheel drive will not engage???

There is a special sequence for that. Let me see if I can remember... Pull to a level surface, put the parking barake on, put the truck in neutral, shift to four-wheel drive, release the brake, shift to drive.

The computer waits for this sequence. It has been many years since I did this. If it doesnt work, call your dealer shop and they will tell you the correct sequence.

2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V clutch sticking and hard shifting

I am dealing with a very similar issue on my 03 Spec V , So far i noticed the clevis pin was loose and the locking hitch pin that slips thru it had fallen out . this caused the gears to not wanna engage due to the bolt behind the clevis which runs to the master cylinder was not getting pressed in when i pushed the clutch pedal in because the clevis pin was slippin on n off giving me no pressure up top .. I had to remove my lower dash panel in order to get visual n hand access to this pin , it is a tight spot to work in as well . May be easist to remove the 4 14mm bolts that hold yur driver seat in to give ya more room to work n stretch out ur arms
