Hi

If all the bolts are loose, you will need a crankcase splitter/puller.
You are going to struggle because you rode the bike without oil. This has probably caused some of the bearings to 'weld/melt' to the gear shafts.
I would suggest taking the motor to a qualified technician for slitting and inspection.
Don't forget to replace the crank seals when rebuilding.

You will need the main components: Fuel, Fire and Compression to have a running motor. It sounded like you have the first two covered.
Have you actually checked the compression to make sure there is at least 120psi pressure in each cylinder? Also, what is the condition of the oil? You will have to use a good compression tool to check each cylinder where you remove all spar plugs so none are covered other than with a flat cloth on top to prevent oil spills, then crank the engine (no more than 7-8 times) and see where the pressure stops. If any pistons are stuck, you may have to use tiny bit of PBBlaster or Marvel oil to loosen them up. You may have to repeat this a few times as you check the pressure in between. Is the Starter good?

How much oil and what kind 1982 yamaha vision

It will take about 2 quarts. Don't you have a owners manual with your motorcycle?

Drain the oil, replace the plug, add one quart. check the dip stick, slowly continue to fill until you get to the proper level as indicated on the dip stick.

If you have not made friends with the guy or gal at the Yamaha Parts Department, you should go do that now. They will be a great source of information to you in the future.

Find and use your owners manual.

you have a bad fork shifter ...first try fresh oil change and move shift lever down one notch to insure positive shift.... where thick boots to insure positive shift.... tennis shoes will cause mishifts all the time, take it form me... my problem went away when i made these changes...if this doesn't fix it ..it will mean major breakdown work $$$.shift fork is bent. if you"ve riddin the bike too long in this condition i doubt you"ll be able to fix it on your own.
