1991 CR 500 (reving to high on idle high serges)

The bike was working fine last year then at the end of the year it just started to rev really high when I would slow down or put it in neutral or need to stop ,the bike wants to keep reving and keep going.Once it is whined up it doesn't want to whined down...just like I'm giving it shots of gas.I had to use the kill switch to shut her down because of this.Hand on the clutch downshifting and the bike is still reving full on.This is **** someone PLEASE HELP ME...........THANKS...(cleaned the air filter and it didn't help a bit)

Take some wd 40 & spray around the carb boot while running to see if the idle drops for a few seconds. sounds like you have an intake side air leak causing a lean condition making the motor rev high.

Honda XR200 revs up and down while in high RPM or higher speeds

You are on the right track with the fuel system. Maybe the fuel filter, There is one in the tank also, I think. Try running on reserve if you have it.

Engine revs

sounds like air getting into carb where it shouldn't, i.e. vacuum pipe from carb to tank or between carb and engine

The bike idles great as long as the handlebars arestraight or turned to the right but when you turn the bars to the left it start reving up. check the cable it as no signs of a problem.

The cable is probably fine but it is not properly routed through the frame . When you turn the handlebar the cable is being pulled out of the top of the carburetor causing the motorcycle to rev up. You may have to remove the tank and experiment with cable routing to keep the handlebars from pulling the carburetor slide up from the idle position.

It is a 98 kx60 it is really hard to start and it dosent seem to have any power up high or down this because it needs a new top end?

Yes. You need a new top end. Being very hard to start, and having no power, sounds like you have no compression left. You need a new Piston Kit. Wiseco make one for your model.
This is a very high reving little bike, the piston and rings in them dont last very long.

I just purchased a 94 Katana 750cc -- sort of a project bike. The bike has just under 13K miles and the previous owner stated that he had only put about 500 miles on it, in the last 2 years. When I first...

Sounds like it sat allot.. That causes problems with the carbs.. I would say it runs pretty good for sitting so much.. I would suspect the carbs need cleaning.. or maybe rebuilt,, jetted and synced.. Try some carb cleaner and work you way up from there..

Rate well ;o)
