Question about 2006 Honda CBF 250

Bike wont idle and power constantly dieing and recovering

I dropped my bike a couple of weeks ago. as i was trying to get it started again it would not kick over. i drained the air filter box and kicked it The battery then went flat on me. replaced the battery and it seamed to be working fine besides the fact it would not idle right so i raised the idle speed up and it seamed to work all right. Was riding a day later and the bike started jerking violently backwards and fowards like it was constantly losing power and gaining it again so i replaced the spark plug. It worked ok again for a couple of days and now the choke gets stuck open. When the choke is not on the bike wont idle at all just drops completely offline. It also has a slight constant jerking and a put put sound coming out of the engine each time before it jerks. I am thinking its a carby prob but am really wonderring what could be causing it so i can fix it

Check to see if you have gas in the oil from a carb leaking down which will cause the idle speed to drop when motor warms up.pick up idle run for awhile then plugs you said a carby problem.

I just put a brand new battey in my 95 katana but it still.loses power and dies and wont start

Sounds like your regulator/rectifier has failed. This is a fairly common fault on GS and GSX models, particularly the smaller capacity (below 750cc) models. Did the oil level fall below minimum at any time, because this can cause the generator on some models to overheat, causing a power surge which can burn out the regulator. Get the generator checked and fit a new regulator/rectifier.

Cuts out and splutters will start agai after a few minutes then will do it again

yeah had the same once on a tzr 125 4dl would ride for a short time fine then splutter and die after a couple of mins would start fine and do the same again .. it was the breather on the fuel cap . if blocked causes a vacume stopping fuel from flowing . once cleaned was all fine

Can't start my Honda CB400-Four 1997. Battery seems to be ok. Could it be the Regulator/Rectifier? It has been lying up over the winter. It did start a couple of weeks ago, cut out and hasn't

if the headlight dies right out when you crank the motor then the battery is usually dead. It may read on a voltmeter that it has 12 volts but that does not necessarily mean the battery is charged.Have the battery checked and charged properly then try and start the bike again.Regards

Bike runs rough but needs constant throttle attention or will die.

You may have put in gasoline with a high ethanol content, this will lower your idle. Try turning the idle screw (black plastic knob) located underneath and between the two carburetors. To raise the idle turn the knob clockwise (looking at it from underneath. 1/4 to 1/2 turn should be sufficient to get your bike idling again.

1988 Suzuki GSX-R750 Slingshot problems(fuel/air)

Sounds like ignition problems; I know you've had it serviced but check condition of spark plugs. Check all electrical contacts for corrosion, more specifically the timing pickup circuit, wires to coils, CDI connector. You're CDI may be the culprit, try swapping it out for a known good one. If it's back firing then enough fuel is getting through the carbs, so would indicate to me that the problem doesn't lie there. Hope you have some luck.

1990 virago 535 starts and runs great for about 3 or 4 miles

Pull the float bowl caps off the carbs and then spray carb cleaner into the main jet and all other accessible ports on the carbs. Chances are there is a build up of water condensation in the carbs.

TL wont start

i have a 2000 tl 1000r. my bike had the same problem. id turn the key on but wouldnt hear the fuel pump kick on. well i talked to a couple buddies of mine and he told me to check the tip over switch. when the bike is laid down or dumped, this part grounds out and keeps the bike from starting. under your seat theres a little black box, with a rubber mount around in. if you shake the box you can hear it rattle. this is the tip over switch. there are 4 screws on the back of it, take those out and pull the cover off. inside should be a u-looking brass peice, with wat looks like white plastic in the center of it. on the end there are two prongs, bend those prongs all the way to the middle so that little circle looking thing cant moove back and forth. hopefully this helps you.
