Sounds like it may be the valve body in the transmission oil pan or it could be your shifter is at fault.

85 honda sabre 1100 on stand in 5 gear and back wheel don't move is it frozen up ?

Is the engine Running? If the engine isn't running then it isn't a problem as you are trying to turn the engine over with the rear wheel, and you would need he Worlds Strongest Man to turn that over on his own. If the engine is running then you have a big problem and need to get it to a mechanics before riding it.

I need 2,3 & 4 gear for Yamaha 1100 special 1982 model

Instructions
    • 1 The gears on a motorcycle run in this order: first, neutral, second, third, fourth and fifth. When you are moving, shifting up from first gear will skip over neutral and shift you right into second gear. The only time that shifting up from first will get you into neutral is when you are not moving.
    • 2 Pull in the clutch lever and tap the gear lever down until it stops. This will signify first gear. Pressing the gear lever down will shift you down one step and pressing it up will shift up one step.
    • 3 Tap the gear lever up one click while still holding in the clutch. This will put the bike into neutral.
    • 4 Start the bike. The bike needs to be in neutral to start.
    • 5 Hold in the clutch lever and tap the shifting lever down to shift to first gear.
    • 6 Release the clutch slowly and give it just enough gas to get moving.
    • 7 Listen to the motor to know when you need to shift. If the engine is making a low grumbling noise, then it will need to be shifted down. If it is making a high squealing noise, then it needs to be shifted up.

2001 Honda runnung ruff, some back firing

Check spark plugs make sure all four are firing, if they are in good order then I would look at airflow issues. Could also be a problem that some after market pipes cause due to not being installed properly so when slowing down excess fuel in pipes comes back towards engine ignites and creates backpressure therefore you get a backfire this also happens if there is a long hesitation between shifting gears because it is just like slowing down

Makes bad sound in third gear with passenger

Sounds as if you have a failing bearing in the shaft drive output. Ride it to a mechanic as soon as possible. It will cost you a new engine if you don't.

What grade of gas do i need to run and what kind of oil do i need to run in a 2001 honda shadow sabre?

Use any oil that is JASO MA motorcycle oil 10w-40 for cold climate 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Do not use any oil that is Energy Conserving it will shorten the life of your transmission gears and wet clutch. Synthetic oils will help your bike shift easier and run cooler. Use the lowest octane fuel that will run your bike with out pinging/knocking. Probably 87 or 89 Octane it will say in your owners manual. Ethanol may cause knocking/pinging on some models. No ethanol will definitely help in vintage 70's motorcycles

Why wont my yamaha 2002 v star **** into gear

Your bike has a bent shift fork judging by your discription. 9a177f5.gif If a fork is bent it will not move the slider gear properly.

Zzr gear box

I have been a bike mechanic for over 10 years and never seen this one before. The only thing I can even think of is a broken shift fork. This would let a slider gear wander freely and potentially engage a gear while the bike is already in a different gear. This would account for the rear wheel lock up. The 'tight spot' would probably be a torqued and twisted shaft resulting from the lock up.

The repair will be major surgery on the tranny. Personally, I would replace all shafts, all gears and all shift forks. You don't know and can't just look and see what stress has been put on any individual gear. I would hate to see you put in a few gears, put the engine back in the bike, then find a stressed gear dropping a couple of teeth the first time you hit second. To put it another way, get a new tranny and a new chain. The chain was stressed also. Sorry about the bad news.

Ask the dealer what the cost would be to replace the entire tranny but not the clutch. Now Google ' salvage motorcycles kawasaki ' and see what an entire used engine would cost. Chances are the engine swap that you can do yourself will cost less than the dealer's repair of the current tranny.
