on some cars with brake lights and dash lights there could be a tire loose next to the battery or corroded ,causing it unless you have additional fuse and circuit boxes which could have a nother fuse in the line
There is an ipd/m fuse box behind the battery of my 2004 infiniti g35 sedan. I blew a fuse and couldn't find it. So remove the plastic panel that is right next to the windshield washers when the hood is open. You'll see an entirely new fuse box. So all in all, there are three fuse boxes... one by your feet on the driver's side, one in front of the battery, and one behind the battery. hope it helps TF
First check the 25 amp fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. If that fuse is OK, contine troubleshooting below.
If the center brake light is working, check the 15 amp brake fuse in the cabin. If the center brake light is not working, the problem is probably the brake switch above the pedal. Take the connector off the pedal and use a big paper clip to connect the 2 terminals in the connector. If this turns the lights on, replace the switch. Let me know if you have questions.
A bad fuse could be the problem. If all the fuses are ok, then next i would check the brake light sensor located on the brake pedal assembly. It is a small plastic box that has wire contacts inside. When you push the brake pedal down, the wires connect making the brakes light up. These are easy to replace and not expensive. I hope this helps!
First replace the fuse with a 12v light bulb. That way you don't waste money by blowing out fuses after another. Just keep the lightbulb in there while you look for the short. You start at the back. See which color wire is for the brake lights. You can also try unplugging the brake switch underneath. You will know if you had found the short because the light bulb will go out if you cut the power to the wire either by cutting or unplugging aconnector. Good luck. Ther is nothin wrong with cutting wires as long as you fix them back with good connection and well insulated with electrical tape or heatshrink tubing. Note that most shorts are caused by human error. For example rigging up things and not insulating the wires properly, or cross wiring something. Goodluck
from the top left hand corner of the fuse box inside the car.count 3 fuses across to the right and 2nd one down should be the stop lamp fuse(F13) though more common is the brake light switch failure this will put the EPS lamp on,
There is a break light switch which is on the brake pedal about 4- inches up from pedal /Brakes do work right/ this controls the brake lights you have a couple of recalls showing up as well just to make sure either go to collisionrepairadvice.com or give me the model and engine size
ljones, Did you check the "VEH stop" fuse in the left side instrument panel fuse box. There are 3 stop light fuses, 1 for all the stop lights located in the under hood fuse box. 2 in the left side IP fuse box. 1 for the upper stop light and 1 for the lower stop lights. The fuse box in the IP is where the upper and lower stop lights split. Let me know.
The only thing your battery light and your brake light have in common is your battery and alternator. This happened to me and my battery was low because my alternator went bad. I suggest taking it to autozone (if there is one near you). They can test it for free.
