Throttle Cable Stuck Wide Open?

I just bought a 94 YZ 250 from a buddy and the throttle wire cover was broken so i replaced it and now have noticed that the throttle is stuck wide open, making it not pull back on the wire? The person i bought it from told me all it needed was a new cable and cover but i think the cable is fine. Ive never taken apart the carbs on one of these but know there somewhat simple.

After reading your post i took it apart and the spring seems to be fine but the cable is really hard to pull threw making the little spring just way to weak. I'm going to get a new cable tomorrow and put it in and see if that fixes my problem, witch i think it will. I cant figure out how to unhook the cable from the throttle valve though, I'm hoping the dealer ship will show me how to undo it when i go and order a new cable. Thanks lots guys

1990 lincoln continental throttle stuck wide open

make sure nothing is caught holding the plate open, disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle valve at the intake.if the throttle closes then i would say you have a problem with the cable itself and will need to be replaced.make sure there is nothing caught at the gas pedal that is holding open.if the throttle stays open then you may have a problem with the throttle shaft(dirt build up),bent shaft, damaged throttle plate, loose plate(has screws holding plate in position)on the could also be a bad tps sensor(throttle position sensor)that is damaged internally and needs replacing,as it is fasten to the opposite of the throttle shaft from the cable.if you remove the screws(note position of sensor and screws on sensor)and remove the tps and the throttle is not stuck then this is probably the problem and needs replacing.

Model P3314 throttle is stuck

Remove the air cleaner assembly to see the carburetor throttle mechanism and open the handle so that you can access the throttle trigger. There should be either a cable or wire connecting the trigger to the throttle arm on the carburetor. Try moving the trigger and see if it responds at the carburetor. Is the carburetor arm against the idle stop screw, wide open, or some where in between? There should be a spring at the throttle arm that returns the arm to the idle stop if the cable/wire is disconnected. The trigger mechanism may be jammed with sawdust to prevent movement. Hope this helps!

Slow throttle response and power loss after a stuck throttle

something deeper... timing is not it... plugs maybe... BUT, you need to pull the plugs and see what they look like,,hopefully they will look normal...if they have strange looking deposits on them... time for a qualified professional to look at them..(leave them as they not clean them)... and your bike...
.. the throttle cable may have been pinched by the steering head stops that are welded to the frame...(this is not an uncommon occurrence :) ).. the throttle cable will have a spot that is kinda "kinked" or have a knot looking spot in it...replace it...
