Not getting oil in top half of enginge 97 pontiac transport

Theres no oil pumping up to top half of engine also there is gas mixed in oil and a cylinder is misfiring

  • robert41n Feb 11, 2009

ok thanks very helpful but if that aint the problem what would cause the oil not to get to the top and also it runs fairly good outside of misfiring and it doesnt smoke out the exaust.

  • robert41n Feb 11, 2009

Fuel in Cylinder Is CAUSED Most Likley BY THE MISSFIRE Check Spark at that Cyl. & Correct that. ALSO Fuel in oil Breaks Down Viscosity of the OIL so I Would Eliminate the Fuel in OIL Problem First to Determine if No Oil Pressure in top end

  • Ronnie Wilson Feb 11, 2009

The ONLY way FUEL can Get into the Cylinder is the Fuel Delivery System and The Oil Being THIN WILL DROP THE PRESSURE AND TURN ON THE LIGHT DO NOT DRIVE WITH THIS PROBLEM EXISTINE You WILL KILL the Engine

  • Ronnie Wilson Feb 11, 2009

OOPS FORGOT Fuel In OIL PAN CAN CAUSE a "PAN FIRE" This I Have Seen Myself It Will Go off Like A BOMB I Saw AN Old Dodge Slant 6 BLOW THE VAVLE COVER OFF LITERALY all Due To Fuel in Oil Pan

Make sure your oil pump is running, also I would suggest changing your oil if there has been a lot of fuel mixing with the oil. When replacing your oil add the recommended amount listed in your owners manual (Remember to change the oil filter) After this, if you are still having issues, and you have a mechanic friend, have him check the oil pump for you, if not just replace the pump. My 96 pontiac grand prix's oil pump was on its last leg. After I replaced the pump I was good only had to deal with worthless GM power steering pumps after that.

How would i know if my overheating problem in my 97 Geo Metro Prizm is a radiator, water pump, blown head gasket, cracked head or a thermostat problem. is there some way i can check for this?

Oil and coolant mixed usually means the engine is damaged.
Blown head gasket, or cracked block - head.
You may have coolant in the engine oil too.
I would not drive it.

97 pontiac transport/where does oil pump drive from?

irt runs off of a shaft that is turned by the camshaft, mistakenly called a dummy shaft, actually call the oil pump drive shaft. in earlier designs of this engine, the distributor lived in the hole where this shaft goes. it can be found under the throttle body. it kind of looks like it has a freeze plug in it.

1997 model just work with the 1997 fuel pump; the same situation with the 1998 model and 1996 model.

For other years, they can interchangeable, as Transport 1990-1995.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

97 transport 3.4 engine- New radiator, thermostat, temperature sensor, water pump and new low coolant level sensor. Temperature guage goes to 260 degrees but engine does not over heat. Bled air from cooling...

Are your cooling fans working? that will definately be a problem if not working. if they are working shut car off and feel the radiator is it the same temp all over or is it hot in only top or one smaller area. if you do not have same temp feeling on all of radiator your radiator may be plugged.

Bad gas van wont run

undo fuel pipe where it exits the fuel pressure regulater and turn engine over , use bucket and rag to catch pumped fuel , do this for half gallon and reconnect ,, then take spark plugs out and clean with easy start (eather) and replace , should start fine now ,

How do I keep getting gas mixed in with my oil?

Does the blazer run ok? how much gas is in the oil? You will get a certain amount of gas in oil thats normal. If your getting like a half a quart thats not normal. If your getting a lot in the oil its got to be flooding and fouling plugs. Need the whole story in order to help. Just taking a gess hear its the injection system, there was alot trouble with them thru the years like your blazer.
