Check your float seats,,they may not be sealing,,,,the pops in your airbox is the excess fuel Detonation,,,,,Be aware!!

Hi Johnsong,

You will have to clean the carburators!
The float chamber has more fuel thn required could be a siezed or dirt in the float pin.
Clean and readjust to its correct level.

Is it a fat blue spark, Is it good fuel, have you done any recent work that might have cause this problem. If you have a small bottle that you can put a little bit of fuel into. Remove the spark plug put the fuel into the spark plug hole. install the plug back into the hole, make sure not to spill any fuel , if so clean a dry the fuel. Try to start, if it fires and runs for a bit it is a fuel issue. Just because you have fuel to the carb doesn't mean there aren't problems with the carb. There should be a drain screw on the bottom of the float bowl. remove it , is the clean fuel coming out. this is a good place to start.

My yamaha xj 550 wont start

Headlamp should go out when starting,to provide more power for starting. Is the fuel making it to the engine?Trash or water in fuel system can cause it to behave this way.Clean air filter and check (test)those fuses,You should get some fuel out of the fuel system if you open the drain on the carb, catch it in a container so you can inspect it for a problem.if you dont get any thats likely to be why it doesn't start.

There is not enough information for me to identify your bike. Go to , and see if your model is listed, and if it is then download a manual. I have a "Genesis", but it is actually a FZ750 Yamaha. :)

I can't get my Fz750 to idle. Engine runs great above 2000 rpms. Will not run below 2000 rpms. Stalls. Have completely cleaned the carbs. Jets seem good. New Plugs. New fuel filter. Any ideas? Thanx

You need to sync the carbs after removing them it wont idle if they are out of sync.
When were the valve clearances last checked? It wont idle if they're out.
If you alter the valve clearances you shd sync the carbs after

Please mark this as helpful (if it has been!!)
