hi there it sounds like your final gearing of the bike not your jetting as it revs easily might pay to go up a tooth on your front sprocket give it a go it might help cheers

Wr400 yamaha runs but stalls


Check the carb. If it bogs, it could be running lean. If it stalls, it could be an electrical issue. For the carb if it is stock I would recommend a jet kit.

Just bought a 2001 WR 426. Has an FMF pipe, no air box lid. Main is a #165 and pilot is a #42.these are stock jets according to shop manual. My elevation is 2500-3000 Ft. Any ideas on jetting?


Hard to give accurate info with out seeing the bike with jetting but I would suggest take a reading from the fuel air screw if the bike running better with the fuel air screw in carbi at 2.5 turns out or more then definitely increase pilot jet up 1 or 2 sizes if you get the bike to run well between one - two turns out on the fuel air screw that is where your jetting should be
I wouldn't be concerned with main jet at all - it should be fine for wide open throttle unless you feeling power loss when you open it right up
also if you are getting backfire or popping when de accelleration that also hints toward lean pilot so a size or two change in pilot jet would be worth trying

Bike seems to be passing a lot of oil through exhaust. How much is normal?


The amount of unspent oil you see dripping from the end of your silencer is lovingly called spooge and it is a sign of a rich fuel condition. The common way to solve this by a jetting procedure. Your manual may be able to explain this, and the different jetting parts that are available, but be careful of errors in your manual. I've spotted at least 2 important ones in my 03 manual! Basically you need to replace/match jets for your particular conditions. Winter riding will be much different than summer for example. And Denver will be much different than somewhere at sea level. Find a jetting procedure for 2 strokes and test different pilot jets, needle jets, and main jets at your track until little to no spooge is seen. Be careful, of course, to also check your spark plug for a cappuccino colored tip to make sure you haven't jetted your carb too "lean". Finally, make sure to run 30:1 fuel mixture consistently through jetting (or 32:1, whatever your oil and bike manufacturer recommend).

Very hard to start but once running it runs great


This is typical with stock Harley jetting. They are jetted very lean from the factory in order to pass EPA emissions standards. You could replace the slow speed jet with the next size up. I think the jet in your bike is a #42 jet, you can try a #45 to see how that works.

What should the stock carb jets be for a 94 yz250 with the stock pipe and aftermarket silencer


Stock Jetting for a 1994YZ250 is:

350 main
45 pilot
J8-6EJ33-61 needle

Adjust your jetting down one size for each 1000' of elevation above sea level. Needle clip position on the needle fine tunes the pilot circuit.

I have a GSXR 750 1990 model and would like to know the std jetting sizes


The stock main jet is 127.5. The stock pilot jet is 32.5 The stock jet needle is 0-8. The sizing on the needle refers to the taper in diameter.

Crf250r starting problem


try jetting the bike. the hondas come stock with horrible jetting which make them a bear to start, even compared to other high-performance 4 strokes.

the countershaft seal can be pried out easily,just dont do much damage to seal surfaces(on the motor).

as to your jetting problem,put the clip on the main needle back to "stock".

and buy several "main"jets,larger,and,smaller.
"jet-tests"MUST be done after a high-speed test(check sparkplug color,should be "tan")

poping,most all the time (on bikes)is caused by an air-leak somewhere along the exhaust system,

ALSO,when you change:
cams,
airbox,
exhaust's
--it's a GIVEN to re-jet the carb!!

1. Install a larger main jet to your standard fxr150 cabrurettor. We suggest fitting a 117.5 main jet, also remove the airbox and replace with an appropriate pod type airfilter. you will notice a gain in power and also a cool induction noise! 2. Fit a new aftermarket carb like a Keihin PE28 this is a chrome round slide carb which has the advantage over the stock carb that while still being 28mm there is no butterfly and shaft obstructing the airflow. 3. Another easy option is a GN250 carb, it’s a CV type of about 33mm, you can fit this with stock GN jetting and the engine will run GREAT and give quite a noticeable gain in power all over the rev range. 4. Try a flatslide carb from a DR200 if you can find one that is! I have one fitted to my race bike (see projects section) and i'm now looking for the best jetting options, but for now with the jetting i have made it looks to be a very promising carb for the fxr150, check back soon! 5. Honda XL250 carb, this so far has worked by far the best with my race engine and also very good with the std engine, but i did have to make a new throttle cable. For my standard road engine i used a 140mains jet, for my race engine with cams i had to drop the size and use a 130 main jet.
