sounds like the charging system is not charging when the battery is low the starter will not disengage properly disconnect battery and charge it while battery is out with bike in a high gear 4th 5th push bike back and forth this should unengage starter once your battery is charged and back in bike if the starter engages and dis engages properly then you will need to test your stator output with a multi meter look on you tube for video to test stator good luck

Battery changing

I installed Battery Tender and ran plug to convenient location on side of bike. I keep bike plugged in whenever I'm not riding. If you just need to charge it, remove cover and connect directly to terminals. I'd recommend trickle charge overnight rather than rapid charge.

Battery getting discharged!!

Of course the electrical items don't work when the battery is out, the battery is the source of all electrical power used in your motorcycle. Discharging within 20 days ... a battery sitting all alone by its self will lose about 1% of its charge daily just because ... it is not a law ... a rule of thumb. Typically, the alternator on a motorcycle is there to charge the battery, (not run the bike) the battery's job is to provide electrical power to the items on your bike, in the amounts needed, at the proper time. Typically, after you start the engine, the alternator has to 'work hard' to get the battery caught up, because of the power removed from the battery by the starter. After that, the alternator just cruises along charging the battery when required and resting when no charging is required. Have you added accent lights to your motorcycle? If yes, the receiver for the remote control operates all the time and will drain your power faster than the 1% per day previously stated.

To overcome this problem (it would appear you are not an every day rider) get yourself a "battery maintainer" a small charger that attaches to your battery via a plug. Plug the maintainer in when you are not riding and your battery will be fully charged every time you want to ride. BTW, if your battery is low or dead and you jump it to get going, you will not necessarily start charging your battery just because the motor is running. Alternators require 12 volts in (from the battery) to get charging power (for the battery) out.

I have a 1992 v750 motorcycle and i cant get it to charge

It has a battery,a stator, and a regulator. The best thing i can tell you,is to download a service manual for your bike. They are as little as $5.00 on tradebit. Use it to troubleshoot your charging issue. I Will tell you this,...if the battery is a known good battery, then it is either the stator or regulator, and you will need a volt/ohm meter to do the tests required.

I need parts catalog and maintenance manual for zx400

Cheapcycleparts.com and bikebandit.com are both good placwes to buy a repair manul for your bike their about 24 dollars. They have chilton, Clymer, and sometimes the factory repair manial. The reason I'd tell you not to get the factory maniaul is they expect you to have had the factory training and the dealer reconmended tools and the aftermarket books tell you how to do the work without the dealerships tools or direct you when you better use the dealer tools. All the books havwe wiring diagrams and test procedures. Again the dealer manuls tell you to do a test thaty you should have learned in dealer training therefore they don't tell you how to do the test the aftermarkey manuls will. ( not always)

I have a 2000 Yamaha R1. I charged the battery and it held the charge overnight. The next day I rode about 50miles, stoped the bike and the battery was dead again. It my understanding there is no...

1. Depending on what you mean by holding the charge.
2. As far I can tell, your battery have enough power to start the bike once or twice but then the charge is gone meaning the battery still have poer but the cranking power is below the needed amount.
3. Try take the bike to a battery shop, have them check the battery condition and the same time how well your bike recharging system.
4. If your charging system is good then just replace the battery.
Cheers

I turn the key on my 04 gsxr 1000 and theres no electrics, battery is charged and working fine and all wires are connected... but still no power

You need to locate the main fuse. It may be in the main box with the other fuses. On the bikes I am familiar with they put it on the starter solenoid. Your owners manual will tell you where it is. If the main fuse blows you lose everything. The only other thing that causes the condition you mention is a broken connection in the battery. Testing the cells shows a full charge but no juice comes out. You have to load test the battery to find out if the battery is bad. You could jump the bike from another battery(with the other vehicle turned off)if your bike lights up , this would tell you your battery was broken internally.

Good evening sir, I have yamaha R1 bike. in bike yesterday battery discharge than charge the battery. today bike start and running but after .5 miles bike is stop running, self is not running and battery...

1998 to 2002 have problem with plug to voltage regulator/rectifier which is under seat. connectors in plug overheat and bike stops charging the battery. you will see if connectors have been hot and will need to be replaced if they have.
once replaced check bike charging with multimeter at battery, should make 13.5 - to 14.5 volts just above idle. if not will need to test stator and regulator.

Mx350 battery charge only lasts 2 minutes new bike i am charging my motorcycle and its not working

hi mate seasoned biker here you need to charge your battery by trickle charging for about 16 hours at a rate of about 1 to 2 ampers the battery should be disconected and removed from the bike first /the manufacturer never tells anyone and its so important
