I hope you are looking for the contact breaker module? if so there should be a round cover with possibly six screws sitting at the base of your Cylinders with Harley Davidson written on it or if aftermarket maybe smooth/Chrome or Ride to Live etc., that's where mine is on a FLHR
Hope this got you there!
Press the Blue button please if happy with my FREE effort! Thank You!

Crank sensor location

Hi Anonymous, on a 2001 XL 1200C there is no Crank Position Sensor, it is called a Cam Position Sensor and is located behind the timing plate on the cam cover. For running roughly the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or leaking.
3. Spark plug gap to close or to wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose connections at battery terminals,
ignition coil, or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor.
12. Loose or dirty ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, and or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.
16. Damage intake or exhaust vale.
This should keep you busy for awhile.

Looking for primary drain plug

the primary drain plug is located on the left side of the bike underneath the chrome primary cover.
if your looking at the derby cover (which is the round chrome cover with five little screws in it its just below and slightly to the rear. its a little Allen head that sits underneath but on the chrome cover. there is one Allen screw that faces out directly below the derby cover and just behind that there is the drain plug facing down. i hope this helps
