Yea the right way would be to go fuckin order one but kawi is gona rape u on the ************, dont try to ****** rig anything that dont work, unless u can tig weld an aluminim one up for the kdx, iv seen it a million times, because with the mounts in the right places on the tank, u can shape the tank in such a way that it brings your center of gravity lower to the ground, which is good, good luck, itd be somethng to try

How to remove harley road king gas tank fuel 2005 model

I have a 2008 Road King Classic (and have had the tank off), so maybe they're similar.
Disconnect the negative lead of the battery.

My dash has a screw under the nose of the seat (which must be removed) and one in the front.
lift dash and unplug harness.

If you have a gas gauge in the left hand gas cap, underneath tank unplug it's connector.

The fuel line has a quick disconnect. Pull fitting, and line unplugs.
There is a check valve inside to keep gas from leaking, but it's a good idea to have a catch cup, just in case some residual fuel flows out.

From there, I have a bolt on each side of the front of the tank, one in the center rear, then lift it off.

2005 sportster 1200 carburater not getting fuel

1. remove the full line from the carb, turn on the petcock and watch it flow into a container. Make sure that the petcock is in the correct position and that the tank has at least a half tank of gas. If the petcock does not flow gas, the tank/petcock has a fuel flow issue. If the petcock has a smaller rubber line connected (vacuum controlled) to it, it will need vacuum applied to it before it will flow fuel. Vacuum can be applied using a hand held vacuum tool (purchased at a auto store) or light suction from the mouth will do.

2. If the petcock does flow fuel, remove the inlet to the back of the carb and spray a 1-2 second burst of starter fluid into the carb and attempt to start it. If it attempts to start after spraying it with starter fluid, the carb is plugged and needs to be cleaned.

Switching to my reserve tank on my 02 Yamaha VStar 650 didn't get me anywhere when I ran out of fuel is there a simple fix?

You did check for fuel in the tank, right?
Running it out completely emptied the float bowls. There should be a vacuum diaphram on the petcock and just switching it over will not fill the bowls. You may need to crank the engine over for a while so some vacuum is made so the diaphram can open and send some fuel to the bowls. It may take some time.

Fuel gauge stays on 3/4 of a tank with ignition on, and when ignition is off it reads 1/4 of a tank all the time. it is a 2005 flhtielectra glide standard.if anyone knows what is wrong i would be grateful...

Contact me directly at and I'll send you a troubleshooting guide for your fuel gauge. It's a scan out of an older service manual but the fuel gauge still works the same way. The principle is the same. Don't forget to remind me of what you need.

Layed my 1200 sport. Down the other day, all it did was turn my throttle/blinker/killswitch assembly downward. I re adjusted it back to normal but now my bike will only crank with the choke on, and dies...

Well, you can pull the fuel line off the carb and check the fuel flow there but you'll need a hand operated vacuum pump to open the petcock with unless you have changed the petcock to a manually operated one. Also, when your bike fell over, it could have stirred the sediments in the bottom of the tank up enough to clog the fuel screen in the tank. Take your petcock out to check for this. To get the fuel out of the tank, loosen the petcock until the fuel will run out around it and catch it with a fuel directing it into an empty fuel can.

Ride Safe.

How to drain gas with fuel injection

Remove the gas line before the fuel injection and let it drain. Make sure that your gas valve is opened though so that it will flow. You can also do it from the gas selector it will drain that way also. If this helped please rate. Thank you
