No sound out of speakers

Tried jump starting bike because of dead battery. Shorted terminals on battery on first try. Started bike, but speakers don't work now. What should I look for and how do I get to it to fix it?

sounds like the starter is shorted out or the bike was tried to start when battery was near dead and the starter is engagaed if starter is engagaed put it in gear and bump(push the bike ) it a few times forward and back this should disengage the starter if it still blows fuses the you may have a shorted windings in the starter and it will need to be rebuilt

I jump started my 01fxst carb. bike started tach was jumping all over,5-10 bike died now its dead. Did I??short out

You would know if you shorted it out by sparks jumping. Did you maybe momentarily or otherwise get the cables mixed up when you jump started it??? What does 5-1- mean???? What codes are set???? What exactly does dead mean??? Is there NO electrical acivity at all???????? Is the main fuse blown now????

Battery keep going dead

If the battery is dead after starting then you have a short in the starting system. If it only starts when you jump it, and I'm assuming your using a car to do this, then it sounds like the starter is using an unusual amount of current to start and is defective. A shorted starter will drain a battery instantly, but make sure the positive cable is not shorted to the frame anywhere first.

I own a 98 yzf. the battery was dead so i tried jumping it with a car i hooked the cables up with the car off. the lights on the bike went on so i tried to start it when i hit the ignition & the lights...

Yes it sounds like one. OK, find your abttery terminals, one is marked in black cable and the other has a red sleeve near the terminal. Follow the red cabel to a box that contain a 30A fuse, see if this is blwon, which most likely. Replace fuse and now use a trickle charger as car batteries has toooo much amperage to jump start a bike. If you have another bike battery it is fine to jump start, never try using a car battery as many damages can happen. Once battery is fully charged ( normally in 8 hours) try again for your bike to start. Cheers. If good give a return comment please.

Did you get your problem fixed. I have a similar one - new battery - started fine several times and now won't start without hooking the battery to either a jump or putting on a charger. If you can help - I am w8bnl at yahoo dot com. Tom - thanks

Biek wont start just clicking?

I drive the bike every day or two and it always starts immediately. Does this sound like a starter or solenoid or something else? Well tried to jump start the bike and it wouldn't start just the same clicking sound. Also tried to jump over the solenoid with a screwdriver and nothing happened. Then I tried to push start the bike and again nothing. I can tell the battery is weak but even push starting, I should be able to start it without a battery right? ,,,
