1993 Honda Goldwing SE Electrical Problem

The other day I started the bike, and several things are not working. The LCD that shows the radio station and digital clock is blank. The turn signals will turn on, but will not auto cancel. I can't change the air pressure of the rear shock. The cruise control light goes on, but the cruise will not set and the cruise set light will not go on. When i first start the bike the cruise and low fuel lights should briefly come on and go out, but they don't. All of these issues happened at once.

The problem sounds like the ECM has a bad connection or is going bad.

I also have a 1500 SE 1995, I was losing my digital display after the bike would start. I was told to change my battery for a genuine bike battery, I was using a walmart energizer unit, moved up to a Yuasa and voila solved at least a few problems.

High Gregg my previous question About led panel going blank, My make and Model of bike is 1991 Honda Goldwing GL1500 Aspencade

Hi, Steve thanks for getting back to me I'm guessing due to the age of your bike it's probably a wiring issue the insulation gets brittle and starts to crack first thing I would do is check your instrument fuse if you have one next I would check the connection between the panel harness and the main wiring harness look for corroded, loose or broken pins. I found a free service and owners manual for you should have a wiring schematic in the electrical section for more information about your question and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the links below. Good luck and have a nice day.

1993 Honda Goldwing SE Electrical Problem. My bike has been in storage and I got it out and put a new battier in it and went to start it. The engine cranks over and all lights and everything work but...

IIRC, there is a tipover sensor on that bike. Read the manual, and reset it . See if that helps. (No, it does not need to be completely tipped over.)

MY 1500 HAS BEEN TRIKED AND WON'T START WITH CLUTCH LEVER IN SWITCH ON LEVER WORKS. WILL ONLY START IN NEUTRAL

It is possible that whoever did the trike conversion did not figure out the sub harness they added correctly, or left something unplugged. Could also be a broken wire inside the insulation. As complicated as a Goldwing electrical system is, you may have to go back to the person/company that converted the bike (if done by a company specializing in conversions) or find a crack Goldwing mechanic that specializes in electric issues.

2005 Honda Goldwing- Electrical issue. Bright

sounds like a wire has been added the wrong way or wires have damage, switch could be the culprit. Does the kill switch work? I would be checking all wires and the conectors for heat damage (melting). And fuses for all circuts. if low beam is used does key work to stop engine?

Won't crank

Sounds like a broken fuse - or a bad electrical connection at the fuse. Try removing the fuse and carefully clean any corrosion from it and the mounting hardware. Do the same with the battery connections.

I have a 1995 GL1500SE Goldwing and my radio will not turn up!

Check the 5amp fuse on the bottom of your fuse block. My 96 did the same thing. The fuse is labeled backup.

My radio on my82 honda goldwing dont have sound

There are several possibilities. First, if the clock and cassette door are affected, it is a low voltage feed issue.. bad connectors, corroded terminals, etc. This voltage feed is from the 5 amp fuse in the very bottom of the relay box to the right of the main fuse block (i.e. not in the main fuse box).. clean check this fuse... If the low volume is FM only, it is internal to the radio.. in this case, another symptom is that the search/seek feature never locks on a station.. Typically this is a problem with a component on the board.. only place I know that works on them is Sierra Electronics in Troy Ohio, but others probably exist..
