Were is the rattling coming from?the onle rattling that i can think of without noing were its coming from is your chain might be snaping around from 1st to 2nd cause its a little to loose, or your cam chain is a litttle loose. a bolt near the engine could be loose and the vibes from the engine can be rattling. tell me wat bike u got, the year and were the noise is coming from and other details and i can help u out

Start the motor, and lean the bike hard over to the left then the right, if you get a rattling noise, to the right it might be a selector fork worn, I have done three geqrboxes on srads, and the fork wears like mad, the cog touching the fork wears a grrove in it over time. other than that process of elimination, I would replace the chain and sprockets if been on a few thousand miles

Bad Rattle from Primary on a 97 HarleyFXSTC, replaced comp sprocket still bad rattle

It might be worth checking the chain alignment before you strip any further. If the chain is not aligned correctly it will rattle or if the tension is not correct. I hope this helps.

Hi there I own a Yamaha 1000 thunderace 1998.When I pull away there is a chain sound that desturbs the clean sound the enjin makes when driving. The bike does not miss fire and changes gears smoothly.when...

By chain sound do you mean a metalic rattle when you ride off?
I will assume that is not making that sound at idle. It could be that your cam chain has stretched and needs to either be replaced or tensioned.

If it is a pinking sound, sort of like someone tapping on a tin can with a coin. Then that is most likely preignition which isn't good for your engine. Why octane/RON fuel do you use?

Hi,please help.I own a cb750 f 81 modle it started misfiring at high revs and after a long trip has started tapping, plus a noise inside the engine sounds like a loose bolt rattling around in there, but then...

About the only thing I can think of on the rattle is a broken gear tooth or a cap nut from and OHC mount has come loose or has come off and followed the cam chain down into the gearbox. I would be leery about riding it until the problem is found. The last thing you need is to be sliding on the concrete in traffic after the rattle gets in the wrong place and locks ou the gearbox at 60 mph.

In all gears, back lash from drive pully rattleing sound on engine compersion strokes

Which drive pulley? If you are referring to the engine drive pulley, I'd drain the primary and remove the outer primary and check the compensator sprocket. Check the nut on the compensator. I would tell you what the torque rating is but I don't know what year model bike we're talking here. Please advise me of where the noise is coming from and the model of bike we're working on.

Good Luck

Cant undo nut

No they are not left hand thead, normal r/h thread.
make sure chain is still on bike and front sproket and then try good rattle gun. if this does not work, put bike in gear and hold on rear brake and use long breaker bar, if still no good will need to heat front sproket nut with oxy set very carefully and rattle off with rattle gun while nut is hot

I have a rattling sound in the engine of my 750 suzuki gsxr. it cranks and runs but sounds like something is broken and rattling around inside

Sounds like a Saturn engine that died at 57K miles when it dropped a rod cap while only starting the piece of junk.

Rattling noise

I know this may sound lame but I had a similar rattle and it was the catch on the fuel lid.
I put a little rubber on the tounge of the lock and now it is quiet.
