Runs for about one minute and stops, after sometime it will start again

You may have a problem with the check valve in the fuel pump, if this valve is defective the gas drains back to the fuel tank and causes long crank times, you can test this by hooking up a fuel pressure guage at the fuel injector fuel supply line on the top of the engine, run the engine for a moment and quickly record the pressure when you shut down, that pressure reading should not drop more than 5 PSI overnight, if the check valve is bad the pressure will most likely start to drop right away, but do the over night test anyway. If this is the problem you will need to replace the fuel pump in the gas tank.

next time that happens... have him turn the key while someone else smack the starter with a hammer (not hard enough to break the case). it should start... if it does replace the starter as it is failing... the clicking you hear are the relays ... semi normal sound

Primary ignition fault. Reasons: Bad distributor cap (most likely) or ignition control module/ignition coil.
Hope that helps
Good Luck

Every answer here is wrong. This has been driving people nuts for 15 years. The problem is the engine wiring harness which has a bend going past the right strut tower, Nissan had a service bulletin on this in September of 1999, Google it, it's in pdf.
