  1. The jets in the carb need cleaning,

  3. Have the timing checked

The carborator is dirty, & needs to be cleaned. The low speed jet is plugged, make it pop and backfire. Also clean the air filter, and install a new spark plug.

2010 zx10r. What is causing it to misshift?

When you say miss shifting... are you refering to jumping a gear and going into the next, or going into a false neutral... does it happen when shifting from one particular gear or is it across the range? What is the mileage? Does it make any difference if you do a quick clutch less shift, (effectively crash gearing but with a bit of finesse, and only up the range not down)... does it happen throughout the rev range do you thrash it, do you know its history? sorry for answering with more questions but it will help with identifying the root cause.

You need to tunes up the carbs. The small jets in the carbs can easily run at idle when partially clogged but can't sustain a high rev without bucking the bike.

Backfire carb

Urals need to be throughly warmed up before riding, old technology engine. As far as the revving, I'd Check for vacuum leaks at the Carburator with some carb cleaner while idling, and if that's not it, I'd check the choke.

4 wheeler backfire on start

incorrect air fuel mixture or a leak check for damage to the intake boot or airbox

i need to know more about how its running at low mid and high rpm to help you troubleshoot and you need to check for leaks especiely the intake boot if the intake boot is leaking that will need to be fixed before running the bike asumeing that is ok or fixed run the bike listen to it at idle standing is it surgeing with a good fast acceleration off the line with you siting on the quad ? or just realy rough ticking over with little guts off the line ?

midrange rideing how does it feel is there a bwarrr noise as u accelorate hard or does the engine roar up fast

is it reaching a good top end with good pulling power or poor pulling power

are the backfires constant or mainly whyle slowing down from high revs

if all are effected but there are no leaks then it may be float / fuel level that needs ajustment fuel level in ur float bowel effects all stages of rpm low mid and high

A rich problem gets worse as the engine heats up.

A lean problem gets better as the engine heats up.

hope this helps if u dont fix it your self first try and do them little rpm backfire tests for me itl tell me a lot

My GSXR 750 J runs extreemly rough between 7000 and 9000 rpm. Its a mildly tuned engine with after market cams, a dynojet kit and I recently installed some inline fuel filters. The bike runs perfectly...

I would check and adjust the static ignition timing as if too far retarded it will tend to misfire at mid range revs. and suffer from lack of power at the top end.

Aprillia SX125 spluttering Mid revs too

Can you confirm if this has a 28mm Dell'Orto carb ?
I would think that you might be possibly running too rich in mid range between ¼ and ¾ throttle opening in which you could try to drop your needle (raise the clip)by two notches, and if this helps but not eliminates the problem, maybe a slightly smaller main jet.

Please get back to me if you need more help.

Thankyou

Bike stalls in high gears when cruising around 45-50MPH

Could be your spark plugs, or maybe your side stand as some bikes if not all of them now have a switch on the side stand which prevents the rider from starting the bike if the stand is extended. So if the spring which retracts the stand is slightly lose, it pulls on the switch and cuts off power. Im not an expert but just check these.

Could also be that your carbs are dirty. So just give them a bit of a service and check for any blockages in there.

Yes the backfire is an indication of being lean. Have you checked the valves lately? May be a sign of tight valves although that often cause a rough idle as well. Have you modified the filter system or added a tuned exhaust? Any changes like that can and will cause a change in carburation in which case you may need to fatten up the mid range jetting.
