I have a 93 grand cherokee, 4.0, the oil filter adapter o ring is leaking. i've went to my local dealer to get the parts and look at a diagram of it, but the pics i saw don't match my unit, can anyone help me find out how to repair this. i can't afford to put it in the shop. thanks What size is the removal tool for the bolt on the '93 grand cherokee oil filter adapter
I have a 93 cherokee, I just did the o ring replacement..mine is a canadian made jeep so It had a 9/16 hex nut...I bought a 9/16 hex L wrench (allen wrench) at napa for around 7 bucks...I cut a small chunk (about an inch) off the long end...got a 9/16 ratchet wrench and a piece of aluminum pipe (about 2 foot long)...spray the area good with pb blaster...it should loosen the bolt up....I left my oil filter (vertical) on and removed the filter and the adaptor...my bolt o rings were still good so they got left on..replaced the adaptor o ring oiled the bolt ...put it back together...no more oil leak whatsoever...another part you may want to replace is the oil sensor, oil fill cap, and valve cover gasket while your at it...if the sensor is bad the oil will come out the back of the plug area... change your oil ALL SHOULD BE GOOD...
It is a t-60 torx bit. u have to use a breaker bar loosen motor mounts and tranny mount .remove pass. side bolt useing a block of wood and a floor jack lift the motor just slightly to get to the bolt. it is a tight fit but it can be done.replace the oring put it all back together goodluck!!!
