Question about 1995 Honda XR 600 R

Dies at idle

Warms up and bike does not idle well, will run fine for a while then
it will cough and die.
Has new plug, air filter, cleaned carb and tried new rev box.
Still has problem, have raised idle to compensate.
Any suggestions, i am thinking stator.

  1. Carb jets may still be dirty or improperly sized.
  2. The Cam and/or Cam journals are worn down and allowing some play in the timing.(Very common on the XR's)
Sounds more like carb or timing issues to me

The stator could be going, but it doesn't sound like this is your issue.

Please rate this a fixya

The thanks for trying rating? I'm not trying.

    THE STATOR DOESN"T CONTROL THE IDLE.(IF it's broke,the bike don'y run)

CARB ISSUES OR TIMING ISSUES,(Other than top end damage)

But you can continue part swapping by Replacing the stator,

Then when the problem still happens, check the items above.

Oh,and it could be a valve sticking every once in a while as well (but that would be the top end)

I have a Troy Bilt trimmer model TB675EC...4 cycle engine. Problem that has arisen is that it dies at high speed and under load. Starts up and runs at idle well.

Fuel starved, carb should have an idle adjustment which sounds like it is fine. Look for the second adjustment

750 virago 1983. Dying after giving it any throttle

If the bike has been sitting awhile it more than likely needs a carb clean. But don't do a carb clean by putting any kind of cleaner in the gas. It will just plug the jets that much more.

Hi my suzuki gz 125 wont idle correctly and when i rev the engine it just dies down and cuts out i cant even achieve a stable idle speed

I had this problem today with my bike and after much ado I discovered there was oil in the air filter box... check your oil level it could be too full. Mines was and the excess oil was blown into the air filter box and as a result contaminated the air filter. Spent today cleaning the filter box, carb and draining and changing oil, could not get a new air filter today so ran it without onebike runs like new!! New air filter will be here Monday!

1992 Honda CB 750 Nighthawk will not idle without choke

Hi, Emeraldcp and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Vacuum line from the petcock to intake manifold cracked.
5. Float needle and seat sticking.
6. Float level too low.
7. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
8. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
9. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
10. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
11. Slow fuel jet clogged.
12. Faulty fuel pump.
13. Faulty auto choke or wiring connection.

2002 Hyosung GV250 running problems

Time for carb cleaning , blow the jets with compressed air, check the float level.
Check the spark plug and replace if neccessary.
Check the air filter too, and if you don't have an 'inline' filter for your fuel line, install one.
Basically yr bike's engine needs a tune up...check the valve clearance too!
Hope this helps!
