Yep, I've got a similar device - NWZ-615F. Just prior to it's one year anniversary, it stopped working, and displays "low battery." I didn't use it for about a month, and it must have drained the battery to the point of no return. I've tried a direct charge with a USB to the outlet too. When I try to charge it using the computer, a message about an unrecognized USB device. I've tried the reset button several times, but it just displays low battery. Once that message disappears, I see "Every moment has its music," but it never works. I've tried reloading the software, and even upgraded to a new version of the software, but nothing works.

I hate to just throw it away, especially since my daughter's ipod is 3 years old, and still going strong on the original battery.

It won't play my music

Charge the Walkman fully. To charge the battery of the Walkman fully keep it plugged in to the Computer for 4 hours.

Reset the Walkman by pressing the RESET button that is located at the bottom.

You can use any sharp pointed object to press the reset button.

If the issue still persists, then you may format the Walkman only using the FORMAT option in it.
Then transfer the audio files to the Walkman and check whether it works.
Make sure that you transfer the audio files that are supported by the Walkman.

Walkman won't create library

If you purchased the Walkman in the U.S.

Try installing the Firmware in the Walkman.'

You won't be able to download and install the Firmware in the Walkman if 64 bit Operating System is installed in the Computer.

I will forward a link to a page where you can download the Firmware update for the Walkman.

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=NWZE436F&upd_id=4015&os_id=27

Please go through the page and read all the instructions before installing the Firmware update in the Walkman.
