The lights on USA model blackbirds go through contacts on the start button, the lights go out during starting so there is less electrical load. The button can stick in after starting so the lighting circuit does not come back on. Make sure the start button comes fully back to its rest position. (You may also need to clean the contacts behind the switch).

I'm Avon problems with the electric start does not work and my lights or indercaters don't work when bikes not started I can't find my front light as it will cut the bike out

having
indicators

You have a number of problems here. First thing to do is remove the tank and seat and look for chaffed, cut or disconnected wires. Also look inside the headlight for the same. Check all connectors for clean contact. On older bikes they will corrode.

Get yourself a Workshop manual as they carry good wiring diagrams.

Buell blast won't start

You have a bad switch somewhere - either the clutch switch in the clutch lever or the kickstand switch is bad. Of course I had a blast that had a sloppy connector at the back of the key switch that did all of the above too.

I have a 1992 yamaha virago 1100. my headlights and turn signals work fine but no parking lights

start with checking your fuses, if all three running lights are not working (front two and rear running/brake) then it should be power related. if your fuse is ok check you bulbs, it's ez and quick.
if you haven't found your power it's time to get out the test light. Start at the fuse block and work way to the lights when loss power you found your problem. If your fuse is blown we now that something made it blow, replace the bulb (if one is blown) and turn on the bike with a new fuse, if blows test for ground on the power wire this the bike off. a multimeter on the ohm setting is the easiest way to do this. now this can take a bit it there is a short in the wire take your time and you'll do fine.

Rear lights and front turn signal works but nothing else on front of bike works and bike will not start. Battery fully charged

I would start by checking the fuses, but it sounds like an ignition switch. Does the bike crank? Load test the battery. Many times have I seen a battery with a full charge drop to nearly nothing on a load test. If it does not make a sound, check wires to ignition for opens, along with the wiring in the headlight assembly for shorts to ground.

2008 R1 won't start

Go to http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp , there are some repair manuals for older versions of yours (free) that might help, but I honestly think this is one of those modern bike computer problems.

Hello and godd morning what can you tell about the gz 250 1999' regarding maintanece costs, engine trust, ride comfrtable, malfunctions ect'ect' thank you

The GZ250 is a pretty good bike. It handles well and is lightweight compaired to similar bikes. The brakes are good and you will probably get around 50 to 60 mpg. The bike services no diferent than others except that the tank must be removed to change the spark plug. There are a few things to consider when buying a used bike. See below. . .

Does the engine start easy and idle smoothly? Does it accelerate without hesitation?
Any smoke when it starts or when pulling away from stop light? > Bad valve guides.
Any smoke when riding at 30mph? > Piston rings worn or possible previous sieze up.
Does the clutch engage and disengage smoothly? Clutch lever easy to pull?
Any oil or coolant fluids leaking after a ride?
Do all gages work? Lights, horn and flashers?
Any red lights on the gages lit up?
Do front and back brakes operate and stop smoothly?
Is the motor oil pretty clean or really dirty? > Sign of how well the owner has cared for the bike

Is the oil "white-ish"? This indicates water in the oil, bad water pump seals normally.
Any funny sounds from the gear box? Anywhere else?
Does it shift smoothly up and down the full range? Neutral light come on properly?
Sprockets still have rounded tips not pointed? Well lubricated chain?

Good tires? How old is the battery? All lights work properly?
Is the upholstery good? Plastics cracked or broken?
Gas tank badly rusted inside? Do the wheels run true or weave?

Do the forks look bent from a side view or front view?
Ever been wrecked? What service work has been done in the past?
With the handlebars driving straight ahead, is the front wheel pointing a slightly different direction?
Does it drive nice or is the bike squirrely to drive? How about around curves and corners?
Do all accessories work properly?
Ask what doesn't work on the bike. What known problems do exist?

.
These are things to look for. I hope this helps.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!

When I turn on the power in my Virago 2002 XV250R

motorcycle headlights stay on at all times the bike is on, kind of like running lights on a car. on some model bikes, when you first turn on the key the headlight doesn't turn on so that there is less draw from the battery so your starter can use the current your light doesn't. but once the bike is started or the start button is pushed, the headlight will remain on until you turn the key off.

Electrical problem

The best way to troubleshoot an electrical problem is to return the bike to it's original condition and get everything to work like that. Then (using the correct instructions) reinstall the accessories one at a time making sure each part works before going on to the next one.
The "extra" wires probably are not extra. They may be the ground wires, Honda dosen't ground anything through the frame. Be sure you (or the person installing accessories) knows how to work with electric components.

Brake lights

The taillight should be on at all times. The brakelight should come on when the front or rear brakes are applied. Start by disconnecting the front brake light switch then the rear to see which switch is broken. Also check the bulbs. I have seen them short out internally. The filament inside the bulb break and contacts the other circuit.

Electrical Issue

Had the same problem. I had to remove battery, take apart the battery terminals, sand them a little, then put it all back together. Make sure the screw on the front of the terminal holding the inner bar in place if very tight. Have had no problem ever sense. Good luck.
