Change all fluids. Throw out the old gas, it will be substandard (unless you have a beater car to mix it in). Check the tank for rust. If there is a lot of rust or you locate rust in the carburetor, fix it with an acid solution. Drain the carbs and check for what comes out. You should get at least 100 ml of yellowish fuel/varnish. If that doesn't happen and you don't think the carbs were previously drained (drain screws left open and/or fuel tap set to "off") then the carbs are likely gunked and will need to be removed and cleaned.

Had trouble get bike to run after sitting for 2 years, drain the gas, acid cleaned the tank, took carbs apart and cleaned out real good. got everything back together, now the over flow off the rear carb...

the float may need to have an adjustment or be checked for parts in the right way.(fuel not being regulated by the float, is caused by worn or damaged needle,or still got trash) once you get this solved the grinding will not be so bed(you will have more safe control of rpms)

1998 BMW F650 won't start after battery change

Hi, Rkmurry and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Security alarm needs a reset.
6. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

Your fuel pump is located inside your fuel tank. You need to drain and remove the fuel tank to replace it.

Float and or float valve stuck, flooding Carb. If it just can out of storage, it will need to have the carb cleaned.

Drain plug for 1998 Ford Explorer auto transmission 4x4

It does not have a drain plug. You have to loosen the bolts that hold the drain pan and let the fluid drain out that way.

Carburettor problem

I have a 1999 Moto 6.5 with a carb problem. As there are so few Aprilia's around the chance of a secondhand carb is unlikely. Does the BMW F650 use the same carb? I know the Pegaso carb cannot be used (although the needle fits) as it is a twin carb. The Carb is a Mikuni BST 40 and it may be used in the F650 but I am not sure. It really depends what the problem is but I am sure most can be fixed by checking and cleaning the carb. Mine had a problem recently with cutting off when I pulled the throttle and the problem was water in the carb. It came from the tank infill breather tube that was blocked at the bottom of the tank. After drilling through the alu connector and cleaning the carb (cost me £57) the problem had gone and its running fine now. Also make a google search on MOTO 6.5 and you will find very helpful info (mostly in german) on a number of websites. ,
