Question about Transport Schwinn Rechargeable Portable Scooter

Open Question

I have a 1999 Derbi Manhattan 49cc scooter with low power.

I tried to put a larger cylender (72cc) on it but couldn't get it to run right and burned up the cylender. I have now gone back to the original size cylender and carburator jets. It starts fine and runs but seems to be less powerfull and doesn't sound right. I have tried adjusting the air mixture but I havn't found an adjustment that helps.

Do you have instructions for how to adjust it properly?

Also, could the reed valves be bad and causing it to sound funny?

Thanks - Mark

Hello,

To open the seat you turn the key to the left in the ignition (rather than right like normal) and the seat catch should pop undone. You can then lift the seat up. Make sure you do NOT push on the key when you turn it otherwise it won't work.

SOURCE: Geely Scooter

I believe that is the alarm telling you to add more oil to the resevior. I have a 2003 geely as well, and my owner's manual says there is an alarm for when the oil is low. Use a good 2 cycle injector oil from a motorcycle shop to get the best performance and avoid problems.

Hope it helps,
Criss

Use a numbered drill set, measure the jet size using the drill bit set, then select a drill bit two numbered sizes larger and drill out the main jet, that should get you in the ball park. 49cc 2 stroke dirtbike runs great on flat land but not good on hills

Hi, Gadgetmen53 for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Does anyone by any chance know what oil goes in a qingqi 49cc scooter. It has it's own little reservoir inside the seat panel. Can anyone tell me what does it take. Confused and don't know.

Hello, Qingqi. I found this article that says SJ10W-40 is best for a 49cc gas-powered scooter. http://www.ask.com/vehicles/type-oil-use-49cc-gas-powered-scooter-e2ec930521cd0a6a

Hi, Lacnel if your headlight is not working, keeps burning out or is dim the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
3. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
4. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
5. Faulty ignition switch.
6. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
7. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
8. Weak charging alternator/generator.
9. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier, overcharging.

I am put a K&N air filter on my 2000 Suzuki Katana 600 (carburetors) it lags a bit when accelerating? I was told I should put a larger Jet pilot? #12.5 is the stock one in.I am having troubles finding...

Your bike came in at 80 HP, the 99 year model had 86 HP you can check and see if that year had a larger pilot jet. you are running leaner because of increased air flow. Excellent in you can get more fuel with it. You should be able to go up to the next size and cure your problem. Your Pilot Jet is 75% cruise Mixture and 25% idle mixture. Rule of thumb....
If you go 1 size larger or smaller on the size of the pilot jet, you will change the fuel screw ~1.5x richer or leaner to retain the original idle mixture - Dennis Kirk 6am to Midnight Central: 1-800-969-7501 tell them what you want. You can go online and search also, many items are not listed though. You will find a bucket load of jets on their site. Happy Hunting.
