Could be a variety of things. Vapor lock from a leaky carb. Carb running too rich. Engine overheated. Heck, could even be some weird wiring gremlin. Hard to tell for sure, but a good solid carb clean and reset should help either way...
Replace the cam pickup in the nose cone on the right side of the motor. Due to heat cycles over time the epoxy melts and the wires fall out of the pickup. Pretty easy job to do, but you will have to reset the timing on the bike when you are done.
Check the valve lash. Sometimes, if the clearances get too tight, when the valves are hot the get long enough that they won't seat properly. I don't have the manual, but I'll bet .003 on the exhaust and .002 on the intakes are close. Put the motor at TDC and check them with a feeler gauge.
If they're not within tolerance, find the factory specs and proceedure for adjustment. This is an often overlooked part of routine maintenance. Good luck!
HELLO; Now, pull the plug out reinstall it on the ing. cable and short it out on the head while cranking the motor over ,look for a nice crisp spark. If you have one, check for fuel flow from your tank to the carb. Check that and if nothing, write back and we will go from there. GOOD LUCK.
