Question about 1995 kawasaki KLE 500

Adjusting front suspension

How do I adjust front suspension of KLE 500. Do you need special tools or measuring equipment to increase the presure. The suspension is to soft and bike "dives" when I close throttle.
Please help.

Yes you are going to need a technical manual with the gauged settings of the factory. This will set to default factory and you can then adjust to what the setting adjustments are to fit your confort.

I want to know how to fix the alignment on my 1995 honda accord ex.


Before making wheel alignment adjustment, perform the following checks:
  1. Tires should be equal in size and runout must not be excessive. Tires and wheels should be in balance, and inflated to manufacturer's specifications.

  2. Wheel bearings must be properly adjusted. Steering linkage and suspension must not have excessive looseness. Check for wear in tie rod ends and ball joints.
  3. Steering gear box must not have excessive play. Check and adjust to manufacturer's specifications.
  4. Vehicle must be at curb height with full fuel load and spare tire in vehicle. No extra load should be on vehicle.
  5. Vehicle must be level with floor and with suspension settled. Jounce front and rear of vehicle several times and allow it to settle to normal curb height.
  6. If steering wheel is not centered with front wheels in straight-ahead position, correct by shortening one tie rod adjusting sleeve and lengthening opposite sleeve equal amounts.
  7. Ensure wheel lug nuts are tightened to torque specifications
Ride Height Adjustment

Before adjusting alignment, check riding height. Riding height must be checked with vehicle on level floor and tires properly inflated. Passenger and luggage compartments must be unloaded. Bounce vehicle several times, and allow suspension to settle. Visually inspect vehicle from front to rear and from side to side for signs of abnormal height.
Measure riding height. See figure. Riding height between left and right sides of vehicle should vary less than 1′ (25.4 mm). If riding height is not within specification, check suspension components and repair or replace them as necessary.
Wheel Alignment Procedures

Honda recommends using commercially available computerized 4-wheel alignment equipment. Follow equipment manufacturer instructions to obtain vehicle alignment settings. Use following procedures for necessary adjustments.
Civic Camber Adjustment
Compare camber settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. If camber is incorrect, check for bent or damaged front suspension components. Replace faulty components. Recheck camber.
Civic Caster Adjustment
DO NOT use more than 2 shims. If more than 2 shims are required to adjust caster angle, check for bent or damaged suspension components.
Compare caster settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. If caster is incorrect, check for bent or damaged front suspension components. Replace faulty components. Recheck caster.
Civic Toe-In Adjustment

  1. Secure steering wheel in straight-ahead position. Measure front wheel toe-in. If adjustment is needed, loosen tie rod lock nuts. Turn both tie rods equally in the same direction until front wheels are in straight-ahead position and toe-in reading is correct. Tighten tie rod lock nuts. Reposition tie rod boots if twisted.
  2. Ensure parking brake is released. Check rear wheel toe-in. If adjustment is needed, hold adjusting bolt on rear compensator arm and loosen lock nut. See figure. Adjust rear toe-in by sliding rear control arm until rear toe-in is correct. Install NEW lock nut, and tighten it while holding adjusting bolt.

  • Camber - Measurement in degrees.
    • Front: 0 (range -1 to 1)
    • Rear: 0.33 (range -1.33 to 0.67)
  • Caster - Measurement in degrees.
    • 1.17 (range 0.17 to 2.17)
  • Toe-In - Measurement in inches (mm).
    • Front: -0 (0)
    • Rear: 0.08 (2.0)
  • Toe-In - Measurement in degrees.
    • Front: 0.00 (range - 0.16 to 0.16)
  • Toe-Out On Turns - Measurement in degrees.
    • Inner: 41.00
    • Outer: 33.50
Torque Specifications Ft. Lbs (N.m)

  • Rear Control Arm Adjusting Bolt: 48 (65)
  • Spindle Nut: 136 (185)
  • Tie Rod Lock Nut: 41 (55)
  • Wheel Lug Nuts: 80 (108)

GENERATOR DRIVE BELT INSPECTION

1. Check the drive belt and pulley for wear, cracks, and fraying. Replace if necessary.

2. Measure the drive belt tension with a tension gauge.

Tension lb (N)

3. Measure the deflection by applying moderate pressure (221b,[9S N]) midway

between the pulleys. Adjust if necessary.

Deflection lb (N)

Adjustment

1. Loosen the generator mounting bolt and adjusting bolt.

2. Deflect the generator to achieve the specified deflection.

3. Tighten all bolts and recheck the tension.

Replacement

1. Remove the A'C and PS drive belt, if equipped.

2. Loosen the generator mounting bolt and adjusting bolt.

3. Remove the generator belt.

4. Install the new generator belt and adjust it to specification.

5. Tighten all bolts to the specified torque.

Tightening torque:

Mounting bolt:

2 7-38 ft-lb (37-52 Nm)

Adjusting bolt:

14-19 ft-lb (19-25 Nm)

6. Install the AC and PS drive belt: if equipped. and adjust to specification.

There is a single shock underneath the motorcycle in front of the rear wheel. On the shock is a large nut that will increase or decrease the tension on the shock.Increasing the tension is better for two up riding . Decreasing the tension is better for solo riding. You may need a special tool , a wrench with a hook or tooth on it to turn the nut. When setting up the suspension , with the bike loaded the way you intend to ride, bounce on the motorcycle. Whether you set it soft or hard , you want the front and back to drop together at the same time to prevent wash outs during extreme driving conditions such as fast corners or emergency turns and stops..

Just need to replace the rear suspension springs. I have a replacement set, but need to know if I can do myself easily- or do I need special tools/equipment.?


u can do it yourself if u have some experience, u will need jack stands and floor jack heavy breaker bar and tape measure. u jack truck up until tires in the air support frame with jack stands and then jack axle loosen blolts and lift axle up/ down til u can pull bolys out put in new spring retighten measure both sides to common point to make sure axle is staright then do other side when done remeasure adjust if needed

Adjusting suspension


hi there,,if u can see a air valve on top of the forks, then u can use a bicycle or foot pump to squeeze a bit more air to the fork,, or if there is an adjuster on the fork,ie, a plastic lookin cap with 1 2 3 4 and a arrow on it u can turn that to a comfortable position,, if there is nothing u can see, then u either have not enuff fork oil in each fork leg,,or if there is enuff,, u will need to change the grade of fork oil and replace wots in it,, so id say a more harder grade of oil,, usually there isnt enuff oil in the forks to make it dive into the front wheel,, try topping the oil up,,with about,4or 5 egg cup fulls of oil in each leg,,if nothing has made any difference,, put in another 4 or 5 ,,,any probs on how u put oil in2 the legs ,please do come back in ,and il tell u how 2,, im assuming u do no,, ok ,,cheers

The car is darting to the left and right.


Check wheel alignment and suspension system components. You'll need to seek a professional in alignment procedures for this one and the equipment necessary to complete it. Hyundai Service Centers are equipped with all the special tools/equipment to do this. It could simply be negative (-) front toe, or a combination of Camber and Caster measurements (cross Camber) adjustments. Hyundai Parts department stocks (or can order) Camber kits & Service can install them if this is where the problem is.
