If you live in an area that your snowed in like I am you should have already replaced your old engine oil with fresh oil and NOT started your bike until you're ready to start riding. Running the bike once a week or so, (without riding it and getting the engine up to normal operating temp.) will only add more moisture to the lubricating system. Bad idea...

Yes you should start it at least once weekly to maintain battery and keep engine lubricated, also it keeps fuel flowing through the bike. but dont just start up then switch off, make sure you get it up to normal operating temprature, this keeps moisture out of the engine oil.

You didn't describe the "click"

A series of rapid clicks means a low battery, or a bad (usually ground) connection, like if you crunched/abraded a wire along the lower frame when you drive over a curb.

A single, loud click indicates its a bad starter relay, about a $12 part:

Don't ding me on this response, (it's happened to me) is the run switch turned off, it's the first switch on the right handlebar.
I'm assuming it was running prior to doing your maintenance.
