Question about 1991 Yamaha FZX 750

3 Answers

I live in Thailand just bought a 1992 yamaha FZX 750 Genesis.

I need some parts but can't find a dealer for OEM parts. Have been checking the web but the bike isn't even listed in the states and the UK dealers want information that I can't provide (registration, post code, etc) and some don't even recognize Thailand as a country. The bike runs great but a I need a clutch cut out switch so I can start in gear and a main ignition switch and key, plus a few other minor parts that aren't available here. Most parts suppliers list only the FZR 600, 1000. Very frustrating as the info on this bike is confusing. Some sites say it was made only between 1985 and 1992 while others list FZXs into the 2000s. A repair/service manual would be nice too. Can't find one for this model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Appreciate Telemachus' quick reply. Bike bandit doesn't lsit parts for this bike and the Clymer manual is for generic Yamaha bikes, not specific to FZX. Any other ideas?

A Clymer manual shouldn't be that hard to get. Have you tried bikebandit.com for parts?

Look at site:
http://www.partforyamaha.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/2/Yamaha.aspx

the bike was noly imported to the USA form 1986 to 1987 as FZX700 (Fazer)
most parts shoud be the same except ignition parts, such as the pick up and computer modules.
good luck.

How to find the construction year of my yamaha fzx 750 ?

The bike was only made for two years 1986-87. Most if not all parts are interchangeable. There was also a 700 made for the US over the same years and those parts are mostly compatible as well.

Hi, Dmgenisis for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Why has my Yamaha FZX 750 got an engine number of 1FM? Surely, engine numbers are bigger than this normally, is this a special one!

Sometimes a chain will come off a sprocket and get wrapped up at the casing. The casing usually will get cracked or actually broken. A replacement casing from the parts department comes without a full serial number. The 1FM designates the case to be a replacement casing. Legally, the dealer was supposed to punch in the original numbers from the owners title. The bike is special in that it is now 20 years old and is now considered an antique in most states.

Top rating for this answer? Thanks!
