Depending on your spread, assuming the scope is locked down to the frame, you most likely have a hold and breathing issue. We used to refer to this as teh "Check to Stock weld" in the military. You have to train yourself to get the exact same position of teh stock in your shoulder and where your check meets up with the stock of the weapon each and every time. When it comes to breathing while shooting you want to use the same process each time. Take a breath then breath out, take a breath then breath out, take a breath then breath out, on the third time when you breath out you should be relaxed and slowly squeeze the trigger, don't **** it. We used to practice trigger pull using a dime on the end of the barrel. Put the dime balanced on the barrel and squeeze the trigger. If the dime stays you have the correct trigger pull if it bounces and falls you are jerking the trigger. Finally, Keeping the same sight picture during each shot. If you are off a little any direction then you group is going to spread. In general these are the steps you have to work on. If your using a rifle that has significant "kick" when fired you need to make sure you set everything back up after each shot so your looking at the target the same way each time. As a general rule I practice with at least 100 rounds getting used to the hold and sight picture before I try getting a scope zeroed in. This builds muscle memory. If you group is spread out over the diameter of a quarter the group is too large to bother trying to adjust you elevation and windage.
