84 to 89 1200s goldwings have a pulse generator

1984 models have the PGs at the back of the engine. The engine has to come out to get at them, or I think you can pull the swingarm instead.
From 1985 the PGs are under the timing belt covers. Still not the easiest to get at.

My 1985 goldwing runs very rough with a load at 1800 to 2250 rpm. once I get it past 2600 rpm it seems to run fine. I have to reb it up at stops to get it not to miss and have the power to get me started....

Sounds like a restriction in the slow jets of your carburetors or improperly adjusted mixture screws. You might try a fuel additive like SeaFoam or Gumout. I prefer Yamaha Ring Free, available at Yamaha dealers. It is basically a concentrated version of Chevron's Techron Additive. The label lists two different concentrations you can use, basically cleaning or maintenance. Use the high concentration for a tank of gas, and be sure to change your oil afterward as the directions state.
If this does not clear out the problem, you will likely need to remove the carburetors to clean them.

Engine misses when idling at 800 RPM when warmed up

The idler air control is not working like it should. try tapping on it with a screw driver lightly this should kinda fix the problem while u are tapping. This will need to be replaced if it starts agian after u stop tapping.
