My first thought would be dirt in the carbys or a disconnected vacuum line

1990 2.9 bronco 2 ..bucking backfiring, and wont idle up..

It sounds like a major vacuum leak into the intake manifold. Check all of the hoses attached to the intake and throttle body for leaks including the power brake booster hose.

It backfires when i slow down and it wont idle when it is warm

1. vacuum leaks at the back side of the carb spigots or other vacuum lines off/broken. Remove the carbs and spigots from the head and clean with acetone/laquer thinner afterward sealing the spigots to the head with gasket maker/silicone rtv.
2. Carb idle and low speed jets may be plugged up and carbs need a correct cleaning.
3. Carbs need rejetting to match the after market mufflers. Take it to a shop with a motorcycle chassis dyno and they will be able to tune the after market pipes.

Backfires when choke is on, but almost dies without it when idling

I would check the jetting to be safe but it could also be dirt in the carb. The main jet has very little to do with lower engine speeds and especially idle. That is controlled more by the pilot jet and circuit. Your best clue is how it responds when you add more choke. If it gets worse then there is a rich condition but if it gets better then you have a lean condition. From what you have described it sounds like a lean condition.

Low rough idle speed , back firing when slowing down or gearing down runs great at higher speeds and idles after it warms up but idle speed is very low. thank you

Check for an air leak at either the exhaust manifold or the intake manifold. Backfiring on decceleration usually indicates a lean issue but can also be caused by a leaking exhaust gasket. Rough idle can be caused by an air leak as well. The easiest way to find a leak is to spray carburetor cleaner around the intake on the cylinder head. If the engine speed picks up you have found your issue. Also what are the modifications if any on this bike?

I have a 2005 KXF250 and the bike continuously backfires when i let off the gas and wont stay running at idle. it dies even after its warmed up. whats up?

check/clean the carburator, adjust the air screw... lack of fuel, causing the the engine to backfire when you close the throttle... adjust idle...

Backfiring and erratic idle speed , I bought it yesterday . . has been sitting for about a year, when warmed up would not idle down. not on the road yet so i can't take for a run.

Check the seals/gaskets at the intake manifolds. That is the main thing that would cause backfiring and erratic idle speeds. When air leaks in at that point the engine runs too lean and causes backfiring.

Vn800 running fast on tickover

I am not sure what you mean on the "running fast" statement. If idle speed then turn the idle screw outward to slow down the idle.

The backfire is caused by turning off the ignition key when the bike is at high revs. let it idle down THEN turn it off. The backfire is there because the carb idle circuit is active anytime the piston is in motion. Gas goes into the cylinder as the bike revs down then a hot spot in the exhaust pipe finally ignites the built up gas. There is your backfire.

Is the running fast question answered? Give me more information on the problem if it isn't.
