Although there can be many reasons for this, I have found that the main reasons are as followed.

1. Have you changed anything recently on your exhaust or carb?
2. Usually I see this when you have an extreme lean condition, such as the manifold seals by the heads, or the carb seal that fits the carb to the manifold.
3. Spray a small amount of water on these seals and see if theres a change in RPM or sound of the engine. This could be a good indicator if there is a leak.

Let me know if I can help any furthur. Id be happy to.

SOURCE: assy of starter clutch on 2003 Harley Davidson

The starter on a late model Harley is a typical Nippondenso gear reduction type starter. They are all basically the same except for size.
To replace the starter clutch inside the starter assembly requires disassembly of the starter assembly.

I you will contact me directly, I will scan the procedure and drawings out of a service manual for you.

The choke has nothing to do with the Idle. If the choke cable is too loose, there's a nut on the backside of the bracket where the knob is. You can tighten it just a bit but be careful, the parts are made of plastic and they break easily.

On your idle, if your bike is equipped with a carb, remove the air filter cover. At the top right of the carb is the throttle stop screw. Clockwise to increase the speed, Counterclockwise to decrease.

If your bike fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a shop to get the idle set, It's done electronically.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Hi i have bought a

I have had two Buell Ulysses from a Brisbane Harley Dealer and have put a total of 80 000km on the two of them. I can tell you that if you have an after-market exhaust installed (EG Jardine, etc) then surging and backfires are the name of the game. Power Commander and other replacement EFCs are not the answer either (because no proper solution was in place before they stopped Buell's production). I do run a Jardine on my current model and putting in the noise limiter has made for smoother running. Also...Buell's are subect to vibration in the bars. I installed anti-vibration weights in the bar-ends and voila'...no vibration...just great as I can now see my speedometer...LOL. I hope any of this is of some use to you. I LOVE my Buell. I've been riding over 50yrs, I've owned dozens of bikes, motorcycles are my daily ride and this is my favourite machine (followed close behind by my Hayabusa).

How do I drain fuel tank on 2003 fxdwg of bad fuel

Pull the fuel line off the carb, and stick the end in a gas catch can (gas can).

Remove gas cap (to allow more air in and help fuel flow faster), and put petcock on RESERVE.

It'll drain through the fuel line into the catch can.
