Srs light stays on ,in saab 1990 900s

It is no good just resetting a warning light, you have to fix the problem. You need a garage to connect a scan tool to it. That gives a code. and then searching the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P???? code tells the fault and the fix. Most garages will scan for free in the hope of getting the work. It appears to be a known issue.

take it to your local dealer srs systems are very complicated and take a dealer scan tool to run and test and there is a risk of explosion if you dont do things right SRS is not a repair at home system.

When you say reset do you mean you had the battery disconnected and the light is on due to that or another reason like the light just came on while driving which would indicate a fault in the system.

It could be a bad connection or a bad headlight switch, but there is also a safety switch on the car that turns the dash lights out when you lose your tail lights, so before you go any further check if your tail lights are working, your car may just be telling you about another problem.

i would go around the block connectors with a wire brush but make sure you disconnect the battery

i just put new breaks on my 1996 saab 900s front and back but the abs light comes on and off, also over a week ago and my check engine light is on and staying on all the fluids and everything is in the car i dont no what it is and nobody knows i just bought the car June 26, 2011 please help.

srs means secondary restraint system. e.g air bags and things like that. when it stays on for a few seconds its because it is doing a systems check. if the light stays on all the time then there is a problem. hope i helped.

the SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System. Most people call it the air bags but the SRS system includes all of the sensors and control units for air bags, seat belt pre-tensioners and passenger detection systems on cars that are equiped with them

each time you start the car up the SRS control unit will do a self-test of the system to make sure all of the sensors are working properly. The SRS light will stay on while that test is conducted. If all is well and everything passes the on-board test the light will go out in about 7 seconds. If something is wrong the light will stay on.

whenever a failure is detected for any reason,the SRS light is turned on and the system is shut off. The air bags will not be deployed when the SRS light is on.

They call it a Supplemental Restraint System because your seat belts are your primary restraint system.

A flashing/steady-on SRS light indicates a problem with the SR system. Because the system contains an explosive, it is best serviced by a Saab trained and certified tech; you can be seriously hurt working on it yourself. SRS system problems can be diagnosed and fixed, and the light reset, by the dealer or trained workshop tech.

Pulling the bulb from the warning lights on the panel treats the symptom, without curing the cause - you've still got whatever fault triggered it in the first place! Definitely not recommended for a safety feature. (You wouldn't just pull the bulb if your ABS light stayed on, would you? Wouldn't you want to know why?)

hi you need tec 2 to reset it as no other tool will do the job
