On my 95 safari van there is an oil leak on the line connection to the rad. The line come from the base of the oil filter. Is this an extra cooling system for the oil when the van is used for towing?

The two oil lines connected at the radiator normally are for transmission oil cooling either way there will be two lines one in one out.. If you are sure it's engine oil you can remove the line cap both connecting fittings.BE absolutely sure They are not to the transmission. Oil from the transmission is pink or smells bad when dirty.

Refill twin cam oil

Hi Anonymous, the engine oil tank is underneath the transmission, the engine oil drain plug is in the front left corner of the oil pan, the transmission oil drain plug is located on the bottom right side of the oil pan. The engine oil fill spout is located in the right front corner of transmission. Good luck

Camry csi 2000 oil leak between engine and transmission

Lots of Camrys do this.

The oil will typically leak from the rear main bearing seal between engine and transmission, but that will appear at the bottom of the joint line, and will not reach the exhaust. This leak is expensive to fix and is usually left as is.

A leak from the cam cover gasket can drip into the exhaust.

The other typical leak is from the distributor shaft o-ring seal. This appears at the top of the join line between engine and trans, and can blow back onto the exhaust.

How to check trans oil level and condition

  • There is a 8mm or 10mm plug on the back of the transmission (underneath the car) When you pull that plug if fluid comes out then it it full. If not you add fluid until it just barely comes out that hole and then the transmission is full.
  • Now you add fluid from the top of the transmission. You have to look way down in the engine bay on top of the transmission for a red or black cap. It may say "do not open" or "open by a technician only." Take and pull that cap off and this is the fill spout for the transmission. It's a fill only, not a check. Add from this spout until it comes out that little plug on the back of the transmission.
  • You will hear people call this a "sealed" transmission of "non-serviceable." Now you can tell them rubbish lol.
  • To check the condition you can look to see if it is getting black or smells burnt. After 50,000 miles the fluid needs flushed and after 100,000 miles you need to change the filter and gasket for the transmission.

The transmission is leaking in front and middle of the engine. What is the problem and how can I fix it

could be your gearbox seals.Check if the front one is gearbox oil or engine oil.If it is engine oil then could be your rocker cover seals..oil from the top travelling down, sump gaskits or crank shaft seals. The direction of travels pushes oil towards the rear and sometimes we think that the leak is on the rear somewhere whereas it could be in the front.

Found oil underneath but cannot see any oil dripping from the bottom of the engine? the oil filter is on tight, i checked the dip stick and the oil is full.also is ther any history of front end problems...

That series of Jimmys and Blazers are known for front wheel bearings failing. If you start hearing a load rubbing or dry grinding have them checked and when you replace one do them both. With the oil problem, could it be transmission fluid? You might have a leaky transmission cooler line.

Transmission trouble

Radiator's with auto trans vehicles have transmission oil coolers built into one end of them,or top or bottom, and this is how the transmission fluid is cooled.I have seen a few over the years, where the tank in the radiator developed a leak, and engine water based coolant enters the transmission.Very bad,as clutch plates and bands have mostly paper, sometimes kevlar or high energy linings that are glued onto the steel clutch plates with water based glue.Well, when the water from the engine finally gets to this glue,it dissolves, and the linings just fall off the steel plates, and the trans no longer functions. If you catch it very early, this can be headed off by doing a total trans flush to remove any and all coolant from the transmission.Make certain this includes changing the filter..And of course replace the radiator with a new one.
