Remove screws on rear of rear light housing, both left & right. Pull bulb housing to rear until it's clear of holders. Turn bulb holder counter-clockwise to remove it from the bulb housing. Press bulb into its socket & turn it counter-clockwise to remove.

How do I remove seat to change the battery please?

if it is a zx10r 05 model there is a rear plastic cover that is directly behind the rear passengers seat which also wraps around both sides of the bike to meet both side covers ,on the left hand side of the rear cover there is a key barrel that unlocks the rear seat ,but the key is barrel hidden and can only be seen by looking underneath and the key is inserted with the main plastic (black handle)bit facing toward the ground and the metal part of the key will be pointing towards the sky ,so you will have to sit on the ground to see it and look or feel under to find it and when you do it will remove rear seat so when you turn the key lift up on the front of the rear seat to remove it then you will see that the front seat is held down by a bolt .

Harley davidson front brake switch

Hi Anonymous, this problem is usually cause by the front brake light switch being out of alignment or the button not retracting all the way keeping your brake light on in a closed circuit, depending on your model year. 1996 and earlier models the right handlebar switch housing had to be tight up against the front brake control housing in order for the front brake light switch button to be fully compressed to stop continuity. In 1997 and later models the button was alot shorter and was more of an alignment issue in the switch housing. Rear brake light switches located in the rear brake line TEE can also fail in the closed circuit condition but extremely rare, usually they fail in an open circuit condition where the brake light is not able to activate. For fuses remove seat and directly behind the battery is a black plastic box. The cover slides up and off revealing the starter relay and the system/fuel pump relay for you injected folks and the various assorted circuit fuses. 2005 harley fxdwg brake light works, tail light does not. replaced bulb, replaced tail light cover ?

The brake and running lights should run on separate wires from under the seat, through the hole in the rear fender and into a connector on the rear tail light cover. Your turn signal wires run the same path. These should all be clipped into place under the fender. I would look for a broken wire under the fender, especially at the point of the clip, or a corroded terminal in the tail light housing. The open wires are suseptable to rear wheel thrown road debris. You have easy access for a wire continuity test from the plug under the seat to the tail light cover.

Battery dead need to remove or replace..... first i have to get to it

First remove the seat...then the grab rail...then remove the right seat panel...that's 1 screw under the right rear, 1 under the side of the grab rail, 1 on top under the seat and 1 near the airbox side covers.
Then remove the battery retainer bracket...that's got 1 bolt on the left holding it in, then swing it out and unhook it on the right.
Next remove the rectangular rubber bung in the plastic cover at the rear of the fuel tank under the seat revealing the + terminal of the battery. Disconnect this and the - terminal and the battery slides out.

On a 2004 Honda Shadow 750. Can you tell me the steps to removing the seat so I can charge the battery please.

Yes, Towards the back of the front seat and on the side are two big bolts.
I beleive they are allen head bolts. Remove the two bolts and the seat slides out.
If you have a rear seat, pull up on the front of the rear seat so the front will slide back.

Now you see electrical wires and a cdi sitting in a plastic holder. That plastic holder is the battery cover.
Don't unplugg anything, just pull the cdi out of the plastic holder so you can remove the cover.
There will be one screw holding that cover down. remove the screw and lift out the cover.

There is your battery for you to change out, charge, or check.

How to change a taillamp bulb

First, remove the two bolts (one on either side) which hold on the seat, then the rear of the tail light assembly should be visible. The wires for the tail light should be coming out of a twist and pull style socket that easily pulls out of the tail light fixture and once out, the bulb twists approximately 1/8 turn and pulls out. standard 1157 auto tail light bulbs fit the fixture. then just reverse the above instructions to re-insert the socket back into the tail light assembly. re-install the seat and you're all set. There may be a black plastic tray-like thing blocking access to the socket (I don't think it is in the way, but if it is, it pulls straight up out of rubber grommet style attachments like the ones that hold on the side covers). that should be all you need to get the job done!!

Brake light is on all the time, I think it might be the switch on the rear brake sticking.

You are probably correct thinking that it is the rear brake switch. Follow the pedal / arm back to the pivot arm, and you should come across the switch. Follow the wiring on the switch until you come to a connector (probably under seat in plastic box). Disconnect the connector, and if light goes off, then you were correct. If not, then follow the wiring for the front brake switch to the connector (probably in headlight housing), and disconnect there. Light goes out, problem found. If light still doesn't go out, check for a bad parking light switch, particularly with corroded connections.
