The only way to repair this as new is to find out what size and thread the plug is and then purchase or borrow a rethreading kit such as re-coil which taps out the damaged threads to a bigger size and then uses a coiled thread insert to bring it back to the original size.

All 4 stroke engines work excatly the same as far as timing goes You can tine any engine manualy off # 1 cylinder on the compressition stroke . Out of 360 degrees a complete rotation of the engine on an engine of this size you should be fireing at about 8 or so degrees before top dead center on # 1 cylinder . If you convert 8 degrees out of 360 degrees that means the timeing would be vary close to what it should be if the plug fired when the pistion was 4.5 thousands of an inch before top dead center on the compresstion stroke on # 1 cylinder . If you have a digital dial calipar you can put the bottom end into the spark plug hole and measure this farly acuratly . This will get you vary close and just tweek it from there .And then look for your timing mark on the magnito and then you will see how to line that up Good luck
