Check voltage at battery(12v when not running...14v running at approx. 4000rpm)...check generator output at the yellow wires (usually about 50v)...if o.k. then reg/rec unit is probably faulty

Either has a charging rotor problem, stator problem, or regulator rectifier problem. Get a manual and trouble shoot.

Either the switch on the handlebars isn't making contact. Or the shift motor on the front differential is broke.

1977 kawasaki kz 650 no power or start.

It sounds like something may have shorted, come loose, or burned out.
Tracing where this is will take time and a multimeter to test all connections.

All I can think of is poor quality capacitors maybe. There is no other reason that I can think of.

I heard you can put a 350 chevy engines points on my 1979 kawasaki sr, is that true im not sure or can i just run the same type points in it

I have never heard of that, but here is a website to compare , ok
good luck with that, but you could cause more damage then good.
for as cheap as these points are . I think i would order the points
that were made for it . cam wear could be different, and spark could
not be correct. good luck

Electric start cliking, lights flicker when running

if you have a volt meter, check the battery cables for voltage when its running. if you read above 12 volts, then your charging system is fine - replace the battery. if less than 12 volts, then you have a bad stator winding and will need to have the charging portion of the stator replaced. probably about a $300 part.

Can,t seem to find an alternator cover for my kawasaki kz650sr 1979 plz help

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part and/or the notation "Not Available" is in the description, the part is not in stock.

Please rate this answer. Thanks
