Question about Motorcycles

Open Question

My son has hornet 90cc quad bike it runs fine and starts fine too. But for some reason when running the quad flat out to the maximum the engine starts to bog down and lose power for no reason especially when going up hills. I thought it could have something to do with the choke because we disconnected it but the problem is there ! Any help would be appreciated !

Pull the slide out of the carb then remove the jet needle and move the clip one notch lower on the needle.

SOURCE: Loss of power when driving up hill

It depends: how steep are the hills? Assuming you have the standard 4-speed or 5-speed gearbox, it's likely that the tiny engine (built for economy, not for power) is simply not generating enough torque to pull the car up in high gear. Have you tried simply downshifting? If the problem truly is the engine losing power and not just lugging due to being in too high a gear on a steep grade, you should check your fuel pressure and you may also want to check the condition of the fuel pump and feeder lines inside the gas tank. A 20 year old car will probably have some disintegration of the feeder lines, they may even be partly broken off inside the tank resulting in poor fuel flow, or disintegrated rubber may be gumming up the strainer or the pump itself. Personally, I'd replace the fuel lines, fuel filter and if low pressure still exists, the fuel pump as well.

SOURCE: when first start my husqvarna

Hi, it sounds like the hydrostatic drive is getting too hot. Remove the battery and battery cradle and clean all grass and debris from around the hydrostatic drive and cooling fins. Also check the fan wheel on the hydro is not damaged. Regards Phil.

you may want to consider installing a battery. just run the wire from the magneto to the positive terminal. Ground the negative wire to the frame.

Honda Hornet wont start

I am having trouble with your english translation of the symptom. However, if your bike starts and runs fine once it is warmed up and initially starts fine in warm weather this indicates a clogged choke circuit in the carburator and will require a thourough and proper cleaning of the carb.

Hello. It sounds like your carburator is gummed up. Go to any auto parts store and get a bottle of a product called seafoam. This is a fuel additive. Just follow the directions on the bottle and add the proper amount to the fuel tank. Then run your bike and as you go you will notice the engine running smoother and the bike going faster. Also be sure the spark plug is new and the air filter too! Regards, Joe

No drive

Please have your clutch checked. It could be wornout. Have it adjusted to engage it and drive.
If it doesn't function, you must have it replaced with a new one.
