Hi, Anonymous I believe .030" is all you can go for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Will a neautral switch leak oil on a Yamaha 1100 virago? If so how to fix?

Hi, Robert if it has come loose or the gasket/seal has failed then yes it will leak just replace the gasket/seal and tighten to the proper torque for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. From what you have described, you may have seized the engine. The brakes grabbing you mention may have been the pistons grabbing the bore. Do you have oil left in the engine after this happened?

1999 Yamaha XVS 650 Dragstar backfires

Hi, Thomas and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Faulty main circuit breaker and or connections.
4. Faulty ignition coil and or connections.
5. Faulty spark plug, oil or gas fouled, wrong heat range or service type, wrong gap, loose in the cylinder head, broken electrode or insulator.
6. Faulty spark plug cables, leaking or broken, internal damage check for spark leakage in the dark.
7. Faulty ignition module, switch, CKP, MAP, CMP, sensor and or any connector in the ignition circuit could have corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets
8. Burnt exhaust valve or air leak in the exhaust system.

It seems like a lot of slop in engine to drive train

It is very typical (and intensely annoying) that when you transition from accelerating — however slightly — to decelerating — however slightly — there is a big bounce as if there is enormous slop in the drive train.

Every motorcyle I have ever had (Kawasaki 175 2-stroke, Honda CB350 twin, Yamaha 650 twin, Yamaha 750 special and Suzuki GS 850), and every motorcycle I have ever driven (Honda CB 50, Yamaha Mini-Enduro 60, Honda Hawk 400, Kawasaki 750 LTD, Yamaha Virago 650, Yamaha Virago 750) has had this “feature.”
